Does anyone here have caliper covers, whether the Rough Country set from Quadratec or the MGPs or any other? Has anyone here painted their calipers?

On the covers: Are they safe? How was the install? Any photos?

On the paint: With the drying time, was install a time-consuming pain in the arse? Any photos?

Having had expensive caliper covers come off and get lost on previous vehicles, take the time to paint them and paint them right.

Paint all the way. If you paint all 4 at the same time, you can just work your way around and the first one will be ready for a second coat by the time that you get done with the last one

This x10. A friend had the same thing happen to some caliper covers.

If you are going to paint, prep work is your friend! Make sure your paint can withstand high temps as well.

Are you painting for looks or ? The shop that ceramic coated my Gladitor applied the coating to my calipers. Dust/dirt washes off of them now.

I painted mine. Super easy to paint put on two coats and let it cure overnight. Came out super nice and doesn’t look cheap like the covers do.

I vote BBK. Dropped these bad boys on my Audi URS6. :like:
In all seriousness, I would paint over covers. But if you are going to tear it down for paint and have the means, give better stopping power. I wonder about my Jeep on 35s and can't imagine the amount of stopping power I have lost.

Caliper covers are one of the lamest things one can do to “dress up” a vehicle. I think they look horrible and they are not fooling anyone that you have a BBK. I think they are an eyesore and would rather just see the actual factory caliper.
If you must, just paint the actual calipers and be done.

But with that said, it’s your Jeep so you do as you see fit and what makes you happy.

-In my opinion, painting your stock brakes just highlights the fact that they're stock.

-Expensive brakes aren't so expensive when you realize the safety benefit.

-Those covers are actually designed to stop brake dust, and they work pretty damn well. Had them on my BMW and my wheels were always gleaming. The fake big brake design is silly, but they aren't all made that way.

I agree. First rule of fast cars. Make them stop before you make em go. I've been totally stewing on better Jeep brakes. Just don't want bigger rims.

IMO caliper covers are the lamest thing to add to your vehicle, same with painting your calipers red, might as well put a type r badge on it.
