My 2020 Gladiator, 6 speed manual, got the recall "fix" to the clutch a while ago. Prior to that, in five years I had never had the "Service Transmission" message come up. Since the "fix" it comes up frequently, and then goes off after a while. It sometimes takes a day or two, but it always goes off eventually. I spoke to the dealer service department. They would not say that this was a common problem since the recall, but they told me that all they could do is examine the transmission... and charge me for it if they found nothing. (I guess it's the consumer's fault that the warning is false). He suggested that they were unlikely to find a problem if they looked. He would not say, but it seems pretty obvious that the warning results from the recall "fix" and not from any other source.
The transmission, by feel, by sound, and exterior inspection, is perfectly normal.
The warning is worse than useless, because as long as the warning is present, a driver is unable to access any other information on the screen. Tire pressure, engine temp, radio station... unavailable as long as the warning is present. You can still see the digital speedometer, only it is smaller and placed at the top of the screen.
So... is there a way to simply disable the warning? I am willing to run the "risk" of not being warned rather than have a persistent false warning and the disabling of other information on the screen. I would prefer not to pay the dealer to "fix" their "fix," so I am hoping to do it myself.
