My 2020 Gladiator, 6 speed manual, got the recall "fix" to the clutch a while ago. Prior to that, in five years I had never had the "Service Transmission" message come up. Since the "fix" it comes up frequently, and then goes off after a while. It sometimes takes a day or two, but it always goes off eventually. I spoke to the dealer service department. They would not say that this was a common problem since the recall, but they told me that all they could do is examine the transmission... and charge me for it if they found nothing. (I guess it's the consumer's fault that the warning is false). He suggested that they were unlikely to find a problem if they looked. He would not say, but it seems pretty obvious that the warning results from the recall "fix" and not from any other source.

The transmission, by feel, by sound, and exterior inspection, is perfectly normal.

The warning is worse than useless, because as long as the warning is present, a driver is unable to access any other information on the screen. Tire pressure, engine temp, radio station... unavailable as long as the warning is present. You can still see the digital speedometer, only it is smaller and placed at the top of the screen.

So... is there a way to simply disable the warning? I am willing to run the "risk" of not being warned rather than have a persistent false warning and the disabling of other information on the screen. I would prefer not to pay the dealer to "fix" their "fix," so I am hoping to do it myself.

I have a 2021 manual with the recall work on the clutch.. the solution to this same problem for me was replacing the transfer case position sensor. Mine drove normally, but I was told the 4wd probably wouldn’t have worked properly if I had tried to use it. After the fix, I never saw the service transmission message again. Not saying this is what you have going on but worth exploring

Actually come to think of it, you can check if that’s your problem. Shift the transfer case to 4H, if the light stays on 2H when you do that, that’s likely your problem. If it changes to 4H it’s probably a different issue

I recall seeing people altering the tire size In the settings/programming, even if they had the stock tires. The logic being that this alters the math the cpu is doing to “determine that slippage is happening” and reduces/eliminates the message occurrence.

Thanks for the suggestions. The transfer case seems to work fine. Other conversations on this site suggested disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes and see if that re-boots the system and turns off the light. Others said that does not work. I was going to try it today, but the Service Transmission warning disappeared (as it has done dozens of times since the recall). So I was unable to try it. One thing I am pretty sure of is that there is nothing wrong with the transmission.

Next time I have it in for service I will ask them to just disconnect that feature, if they can. There is no reason to keep a malfunctioning sensor working since it does not provide valuable information. I have been driving manual transmissions for about 50 years, including a CJ5, two Wranglers and now the Gladiator. One time I had a transmission problem (on a Pontiac) but it was pretty obvious without a sensor to tell me about it. I think I will rely on that method from here out.

You can’t really disable that warning without hacking the CAN system, and that’s way more trouble than it’s worth. The message is coming from the PCM/TCM logic that was changed with the clutch recall, so it’s almost certainly software or a sensor input like the clutch position switch. A reflash or updated TSB fix is the right move, even if that means trying a different dealer. I’d open a case with Jeep corporate so you’re not paying out of pocket for a problem they created
