I have two sets out for delivery today. You don’t really have to drill holes to install them, you have to drill out the plastic welds that hold the trim piece that the nets mount to. Once installed there are no new holes visible.
Here is a Link to the installation video over on the JL Forum.
Finally installed official use only door pockets today. Each door took about 15 minutes to pull off, drill out each plastic weld, install the new pockets using hardware provided and reinstalling the door. One of the easiest installs I have ever done. Super factory looking.
I got a set of Unofficial Use Only OEM Plus Door Pockets (see here: unofficialuseonly.com) and decided to put them to the test! I figure that if they are going to make a plastic pocket and call it OEM quality that it should be able to hold up to some abuse. I put some scrap steel in a bucket and hung it off the edge of the pocket. The front door held 35.1 lbs before I was worried that my clamp would come off the edge due to it bowing out so far. After I removed the weight the pocket went right back to its original location and had no permanent deformation! I could have added more weight! The rear door held 41.2 lbs because that is all that I could fit in my bucket. It also went right back to normal but with the connection points in the corners being a bit looser than before testing. I am beyond impressed with the durability of this US made product! I shared my results with UUO and they gave me a 25% off promo code that I can share with anyone who can send me a photo of them testing their aftermarket door pockets in this way. Lets start a leader board of the aftermarket door pockets! Which brand can hold the most?
