I bought one for my JT and another for the wife’s JL, both have the 8.4 UConnect with the latest OTA updates. Both of them Carlinkit (or Garlinkit since the first letter looks more like a G to me). Neither were consistent. Both worked great for about 10-20mins, then the BT connection got spotty, disconnecting during navigation—distracting, no auto-reconnecting, more distracting while driving. Same problem during calls. Constant BT disconnects causing me to have to change audio sources to hear my call—distraction while driving. The guy who built those needs to check his code. Tried these using two iPhone 12 models (a Pro and a Pro Max), running the latest iOS 15.1.x in NOV 2021. I don’t recommend these devices or those like them. We need a better solution.

I should also add that the BT connection also causes a 4-7sec delay, annoying unless taking to yourself.

I’ve got both version 2 and version 3 Carlinkit adapters, and found very little difference in the two.
I’ve had pretty good results with either on short trips in town. Once I go interstate, I’ll have issues after several hours of continuous use.

I have had this one about 9 months now:

Only issue I have is occasionally it won’t connect on startup and I have to unplug and plug the dongle back in. 90% of the time it connects automatically on vehicle startup. I never have connectivity issues once connected. I’ve used both an iPhone 11 Pro Max and an iPhone 13 Pro Max. I used it on an 18 hour drive to Indiana and a 8 hour drive to Destin without issue.

I'm still waiting for it to arrive, but will report back after a couple of months on my experience. Coincidentally the item is back up to $138 now.

Mine arrived for Christmas. So far so good. Its a pleasure just putting my phone in the cradle and have car play on tap without having to plug anything in just like in my other vehicles. Deal was worth every penny.
