For 2 years, my center console usb port has worked fine. It recently has started disconnecting when using CarPlay and my iPhone 13. Dash port is fine. I’m using new apple cables. I did a search and there seems to be interment issues with the port. For those in the same situation, is there a permanent fix? Is this a software or hardware issue with the port and or phone.
thanks

I have had the same issue but only since getting the new apple phone. By the way, I hate the new phone.

The issue is more likely with the phone, but it could be the cable. I use Anker cables that are designed for heavy use. I use the shorter three foot cables with the center console port. All the center console issues I've had, so far, have been either the cable or the port on the phone.

I was looking for one of these threads, discussing the center console port (the one under the arm rest) and CarPlay dropping to frequently to be used. I have some interesting findings and was curious if anyone else had the same. I have tried all types of cables (Apple OEM included) with my iPhone 13 mini. A few days ago, I updated my phone to iOS 18. I dont know what made me give this port a try again, but I plugged it in and it worked without issue……1hr drive each way. A few days later, I updated to iOS 18.1, which addressed a security issue. The port still works, but it does drop every once in a while.

Anyone else tried after updating to iOS 18?

I have had no issues with new ios 18 or with any iphones and ios before that either. Something is wrong, but couldn't tell you whether it's software, hardware or both.
