I have a 2020 Gladiator Overland. The Start/Stop mechanism stopped working, the batteries died. I replaced both. The car starts, everything is working fine except for the engine light being on and the Start/Stop still doesn't work. Any thoughts are welcome.

What's the start stop page say on the dash, what codes do you have? AutoZone can scan them if you don't have one. First thing I would check also is off and on voltage at the main battery.

Did you charge both batteries before installation? If not, it will be a few days of driving to get the levels up.

The batteries dying likely created a bunch of codes that need cleared.

I was going to go to Auto Zone tomorrow to have them show the codes so I can see. Thanks for the reply.

Batteries must be installed in this way:
Fully charge both independently using a charger that is AGM capable. It can take a few hours.
Leave the IBS off the truck, disconnected for at least 10 minutes.
Install the fully charged batteries in the truck.
Put the IBS back in place, and reconnect.
Always fully charge both batteries before install.
Reset the IBS when installing new, fully charged batteries.

A problem with the system will prevent the auto stop/start from working and give you no reason on the dash. It will simply say it's not ready.
For example, if a misfire is detected, it can set the MIL (people call check engine light - it's the Malfunction Indicator Light) and that is enough to prevent the auto stop/start from working.
Many problems detected with the engine, transmission and so on can trigger the light and prevent auto stop/start from working.
The light may be on for any of hundreds of reasons - but yes, best to find the code behind it and get it resolved.

If he didn't - he's going to have other problems. He'll need to reset the IBS if he didn't already (depending on HOW he installed the batteries)
