Check Engine Light and Vibration

Had a check engine light come on my 21 Rubicon as soon as I pulled in the driveway today. Drove just fine all day long, but as soon as I put it in park the light came flashing, the whole truck vibrated, engine sounded real clunky, and a smell I can only describe as an unclean portapotty was coming from it. Guessing its a cylinder misfire, but before I have it towed to a mechanic, was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience and know what it could be?

Had the same issue with my Rubicon. It ended up being an 02 sensor so replaced all 4.
Pull the codes and see what comes up.

Had the same early on with my 2022. It was an 02 sensor as well. Then another 02 sensor went within the same month. Replaced under warranty. Would be good to get a code on it. They actually run ok with just one of the sensors going bad. After the initial fail, the computer compensates for it I believe, especially if it is the 02 sensor downstream of the cat. But would not recommend running with a faulty 02 sensor for an extended length of time.

Early last summer, my wife and I settled at a camp site for a long weekend, that first evening, this trailer unit pulled into the camp site next to us. The trailer was brand new, it was the first time the folks took it out for camping in. The husband of that couple was on some kind of working holiday and he was absent during the day and would return in the evening.

The very next day, my wife and I were enjoying our space and a fire when the AWFUL stench of “leaky septic tank” wafted over to us. I couldn’t stand it and went over and knocked on the trailer and the woman came to the door. I said I think something was wrong with the septic system as we were getting chocked out by the smell.

She too could smell it and was quite embarrassed. We walked around outside the trailer and couldn’t see any evidence of a leak …. Then I noticed the batteries up front were bulging and the smell was coming from them! The charger wouldn’t shut off and the batteries were about to self ignite! The power cable was unplugged and the smell eventually stopped. It was a charger malfunction.

I have never smelled a “septic” odour coming from a failed battery!

Put a multimeter on your battery and read the voltage without the engine running and then read it again with the engine running. What are the numbers?

Is there a way to pull the codes without a code reader? In my Wrangler i just flick the key three times and it pops up on the dash, couldnt figure out how to do that with the push start
