The black is showing dirt, water, etc. Should I do more for it or is the clear coat enough? I'm reading a lot about ceramic for the paint...

Funny - this is what a local body shop recommended to me instead of doing full 3m PPF. They said adding some thick clear coat layers will provide better protection, won't peel or discolor like PPF over time, and is easier to clean up (buff out), and is also much cheaper. I will be exploring this shortly with looking for solutions for the LJ first.

I've had it less than a week so I haven't even washed it yet with all the rain we've had.

Black shows dirt and scratches. Wash it, and wax it. Repeat after every trip.

Is there a “best” wax for black paint?

Thanks!

Here is a review I found helpful. I've already used the 'Hybrid Solutions' on a few vehicles with great, long-lasting results.

what he said. I've thinking about a satin clear wrap for the whole truck on mine personally.

Properly applied PPF doesn’t peel and the new stuff doesn’t yellow for many, many years. It will protect the paint and clear coat against tree branch scratches, prevent rain and bugs from leaving spots in your clear and prevent small dents from rocks better. There is even “self healing” PPF now that won’t show trail pinstripes. It is also easier to replace a small section of PPF if it is damaged vs dealing with deep scratches in clear coat.
