So today just after we left for the trail, our Gladiator’s climate control jumped to 76 degrees on both sides and froze out all other climate control functions. The on-screen slider function on the Climate page will let you reset the temp, but it flips back to 76 a second later. No other controls function.

Has anyone run into this or know how to fix it?

We’ve turned off the car multiple times for up to an hour, but the problem stays. Will try disconnecting a battery terminal before making the 3 hour ride home tomorrow, but this glitch is a bizarre one.

Steve, I have just started my search on here for an answer, and your post is kinda similar. My heater control, when not in sync (driver side passenger side) are not functioning correctly and my dealership can not figure out how to fix it. They have had my JT 3 times with the last time, they had it for 2 weeks. If my driver side is on 73, passenger is on something else, my side blows burning hot air, until I drop it to LOW, then it blows freezing cold air. They replaced sensors, modules and said that they think they fixed it, but as soon as I clicked it off of SYNC, same issues occurred. Let me know if you had similar issues, or if/how yours was resolved. Other than that, I think I will start a thread and see if I get some other user feed back on it, seeing as the service department guys have no clue what they are doing.

Thanks,

Thanks,
There's a few HVAC threads. Maybe try a different dealership.

Thanks,
That is interesting as I just noticed something similar this evening in mine. I usually have the system in sync but my wife was riding with me and she was cold so she put the heater on 75 for her side. I had my side set to 68. My side started to blow out the air so hot and I tried lowering the temp on my side more but no luck. I had to shut my vents as it was super uncomfortable it was blowing so hot.. When she got out of the truck I synced it back both sides to 68 and everything was fine no super hot air on either side.

Thanks,
Mine does the exact same thing! I had them look at it when I was having the steering box done and they gave me some bs about the engine warning up. The thing is... that does make sense because my engine is warm... which is part of the issue I’m having, the super hot air when I have the temps set 61 or above.

keep me posted if you ever get a resolution!!

Either I'm lucky or something. We never have the two sides in synch. My wife is ALWAYS hot.... and I need the heat, so in the winter, I've got my side set at 68 or 69 and she's got her side set at 65.
Then she feels cold, so she ups her side to 70 - I leave mine alone. Then she opens a window and sets her side down again. Nothing wrong with the Jeep, it's HER thermostat!
Mine works perfectly and almost exactly how each of her Grand Cherokees have worked.
It's one thing I hope the dealership never messes with or "flashes". Hands off the HVAC of my truck!

But there's been some talk of issues, and I think even one where they describe the HVAC not wanting to move off a particular temp. For some reason, that one rings a bell.

Last night was the first time we unsynced the system as I was perfectly fine by my wife wanted more heat. I told her the truck will heat up fast since its a small cabin but she insisted she needed more heat. That is when the crazy started as I mentioned with the superheated air pouring out of my side and I could not control it so had to close off the vents it was so hot. But as soon as I resynced things the superheated air stopped. Strangest thing. I really just figured dang this thing puts out a lot of hot air so no need to go heavy on the heat but that was beyond hot.

These threads don’t help with the issue. It’s all back and forth members arguing about how it’s designed to work... set to 61 blowing scolding hot air just isn’t right!
This is the way mine is. Put on low it will be cold, change it to 60 and it feels like I put the heat on. There is nothing in between. It was like that in the summer too.

Have you taken it to the dealership for repair?

I tinkered with mine again just to check. I put the heater on 74 and had it synched. The truck got warm quick but not super heated air blowing. I took it off sync and dropped my side down to 68 and within a few minutes it started to blow that super heated air out and I could not stop it regardless how low I dropped it on my side. Very uncomfortable hot. I put the system back into sync and it stopped and went back to blowing out normal warm heated air. That is crazy

We have dual climate, and rarely touch the controls except to charge one side a degree or two. The HVAC warms the cabin up quickly and maintains the set temperature for the duration of the trip.

JL and JT hvac systems being the same, they, in my experience, issue the same level of performance. Think of the system as you would a 1936 Motorolla house radio; 36 knobs and switches with 2 settings. Mine has me choose between "heat of 1,000 hells" or "whatever the temperature is outside". I've found a clever workaround by turning it to high defrost and regulating the temperature with the window motors. Perhaps, when technology gets to a new level of refinement, some clever person will invent a heater control that has a sliding knob hooked to a bicycle cable that adjusts a flap in the heater. It's a far-fetched dream, but who knows. Of course, manufacturers would have to find a use for the 356 feedback motors, potentiometers and servos used on the current system. Perhaps they could devise a way to use them to adjust the inside rearview mirror.... I can't wait...

Sounds like yours isn't working correctly and should be repaired under warranty.

Ic couldn't tell you whether it's working correctly, but it's working exactly as incorrectly as my Wrangler JLUR...
