Molle panels for the bed installed today and got some of the next round of gear prepped for when I’m back from a golf weekend in San Diego. Then I’ll wire up the Bluetti Charger 2 and solar panel so the power station can do its thing and get that fridge nice and cool. Also put in some seat covers.

Today, I swapped out the stock mattress in the Topoak Galaxy Pro RTT for a Hest Dually Long mattress.

I initially tried to keep the original in there for a super pillow top, but alas, math won and I pulled the original out.

Of note: be sure to air out your tent after big rains even if you never open it. Moisture can slip in and become a lingering issue.

Climbed up for a test and it’s so much more plush. Can’t wait for the first trip coming Memorial Day weekend.

Haha. Not at all. Will save it in case there is a use for kids sleepovers at home or maybe to throw in a ground tent with our other camping air pads over. I’ll see if I can get use out of it. Maybe some egg foam as a topper for in a ground tent. Only challenge will be transporting it for that use case.

Installing power into the cap.

Had a handy friend helping me along and we created a carpeted shelf and panel for the power station and the charger 2 and fuse box to mount to. Ran 12v and two Anderson plugs on the back that support my accessories including a line up to the tent to power the box that comes with it (lights,

That’s a great idea!!!! Don’t know why I didn’t think to do that. I have a couple sheets of 1/2” I could totally make a good wall out of! Thanks for the inspiration!!

Finally got a nice enough day out to secure the solar panel to the rooftop tent. Decided for a thin panel and direct adherence to still allow me to use the tents crossbars in the future to haul kayaks. I’m aware this will be less efficient, but I’m okay with that for now as the Charger 2 is really maintaining the system well so far and inspires confidence.

Acetone to clean each surface and then taped it in place. Pretty straight forward install.

Sitting in the driveway without much access to the sky, but confirmed everything is working.

Mounted the Sherpa Moonlight 41” roof rack. Will be putting traction boards, an Apache case for recovery gear, and the Starlink mini up there.

Tonight I threw on the traction boards. Not sure if this is exactly where they will sit, but for now I’ll leave it. Will see about adding the Starlink mini mount and Apache case this weekend.
