Got the winch installed. Like many others here went with the badlands Apex. Fitment is tight with this bumper and the winch housing does make contact with part of the grill. I had to relocate the power cable to the side of the control box like others have done. Other than that, it works great. Measured front end sag. Ended up being about 1/4" so very minimal overall and pleased with it.

Winch weights about 60 lbs

Remaining payload= 613.5lbs

Seeing this is cool. That being said makes me lean toward a trailer and just try to keep the tongue weight low. LoL

Upgraded to 35's today. Went with Toyo Open Country 3s in 35x11.50. Decided to do 11.50s so I could keep the stock wheels and from what I read they won't rub without a lift, they should also be lighter than 12.50s.

Factory tires= 63lbs
New Tires= 61lbs

Netting me a savings of 10lbs (over all 5 tires)

Remaining payload= 623.5 lbs

Old tires are for sale as well with 10,700 miles on them.

This is the way the Rubicon should have come from the factory!
Congrats!

Been awhile since I posted anything here, life has been busy. Anyways todays mod was a 40% seat delete platform to mount a milwaukee packout box

I ended up removing 43 lbs of material (seat, floormat, plastic bits etc.)
The platform I built weighs 15 lbs
Net weight loss = 28lbs

remaining GVWR= 651.5 lbs

Finally got a big mod done today. Clayton 2.5 overland lift. Did it myself in my garage over the course of about 3 days. Still need to get it aligned but the test drive went great. Absolutely love the way it looks. Ended up netting more like 3.5 inches.
and yes I did weigh everything

Clayton kit weight = 199lbs
Factory rubicon parts = 127
Net gain = 72 lbs

remaining payload = 579lbs

I’ll try to get some more pics soon, I’m just tired from the install. Those LCA bolts are no joke.

It looks like the way Jeep should have sold the Rubicon!

Funny I came across this thread! I'm doing a Mojave to Rubicon hood swap and one of the reasons: WEIGHT! Any chance I get to have a lighter mod, I'll take it. I do miss my Rubicon hoods from the past, and I love my Mojave hood, but it's steel, and way heavier than the aluminum Rubi hood...

I also have titanium lug nuts to install, 😂

yeah titanium lugs nuts are super cool albeit pricey. Might get some at some point. I’m always looking for ways to save weight even though my mods are slowing adding it hahah it’s all a trade off

Agreed... I have a buddy that laughs at me when I talk about lightweight Jeep stuff... it's a trade though... I tow, carry gear, etc... I'm not auto crossing the Jeep but I do try to keep weight in mind.

Next mod:
Clayton extended brake lines. Even though I have the 2.5 inch lift, under full drop with the fox shocks the brake lines were too tight for my liking. I didn’t weigh these as the increase is negligible if at all. I stole a tip from an extreme terrain video about reusing the plastic clips for the ABS sensor wire by dremeling them off the old brake lines and reinstalling. Also decided to bleed the brakes as this hasn’t been done yet and I’m at 30,000 miles. The fluid was super dark so I’m glad I got some new stuff in. I wasn’t able to get the fronts, is the bleeder valve a different size than the rears? 11mm? Don’t have that size wrench.
