I know there’s several threads on this issue. Just wanted to get some guidance on what fixes dealers have suggested for those with the nuisance CEL.

I have a 22 Gladiator Texas Trail that I bought in September and have been fighting this CEL. It started around 700 miles. Flashing and going away. It finally stayed steady for about 50 miles. Brought it in, they pulled the codes and reset the PCM after noting several cylinder misfires. No issues for a week, then it flashed again. Went away, flashed again the next day, followed by a rough idle. Decided to tow it in with 1,377 miles. Tech found sediment in the oil and metal shavings after doing an oil sample. Chrysler recommended just changing the oil. I can’t imagine that would prevent metal shavings? The service advisor said that’s why I need to “break in” the engine for the first 5,000 miles. It’s an obvious problem on these Gladiators. I know the vehicle is under warranty, but it seems like they are trying to hide a bigger issue? Anyone dealt with similar solutions from Chrysler?

Pull an oil sample and send it to Blackstone so you have a record. You're at the mercy of the dealer if you want the work done under warranty, but at least this will give you a leg to stand on if you suspect there is engine damage.

Good advice. Should I wait a little bit since they just changed the oil? Or is it safe to do it immediately?
