Dealer Front TrailCam Installation

Hi All,

Has anyone had experience with a dealer installed front TrailCam utilizing all of the OEM parts? My 2021 JT does not have one factory installed, and a DIY solution isn't an option for me. I've called a few dealerships and unfortunately none have any experience with installing one.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

There's a thread on this here, somewhere. The front trail camera is not a dealer installable option. It requires additional wiring, a video controller, and a new rear camera. If you want the camera, it has to be factory installed, or the Zautomotive option.

Thanks for the response. For my purposes it’s something I felt that I’d rarely use, but would be nice to have the option in the future if needed. Surprised how complicated it seems to be, figured it would be a hot accessory kit for Jeep it they could simplify it a bit, especially if the 8.4 system is designed to support multiple cameras.

That's what I had hoped. The dealer told me it would be available as an add-on option, but that was in July 2019. I have looked at the Zautomotive camera, but am waiting to see if they come up with a T harness to make installation easier.

Any idea why a new Rear Camera would be required? Seems so unnecessarily over-complicated.

With just the backup camera, it is routed up to the head unit. With both cameras, they are routed to a video controller mounted behind the rear seat, which then connects to the head unit. There appears to be a difference in the output from the camera, depending on what they are intended to interface with.
