Ran into the same issue a month ago with my first oil change. Asked them to do it and they said they were not allowed to do it any more. Literally told me to go buy a Tazer or find a local auto shop to go do it for me. They didn't have a good explanation as to why they weren't allowed to, just that "corporate changed the policy".
My dealer told me they'd do it last week, so either they don't know yet, or it's the dealership's "corporate" policy. I guess I'll find out in about a month.

Gotta bite the bullet, buy a Tazer. There's other things out there too. Don't rely on the dealer to do something you can do yourself. I know a Tazer is a chunk of change but so $120.

I used jscan to make a minor adjustment today after my tire swap........ I had it set perfect for the Rubicon tires, had to set it back for the new tires. Pretty darned easy with jscan on my phone connected to the OBD interface via bluetooth
This is another way to do it - AlfaOBD plus the bypass cable and the adapter -

Tazer all the way. It's useful for a lot of things besides tires.

Dealership did mine 2 weeks ago, sounds like they were being lazy and didn’t want to mess with it.

I mentioned in another thread about this that in Canada dealers are not allowed to change tire sizes. It is against Transport Canada regulations. Perhaps this is migrating to some states?

Goofy thing is according to the TSB it's supposed to be changed to comply with our federal regs! (keep odometers and speedometers accurate, etc.)

........it's just a flash of a computer.
Have you worked in a dealership? Unreal what they have to track and keep records on these days.
Since it would actually be Corporate paying for it - the dealership shop has to keep records and submit what's been done to corporate to get their money for the work.

First, unless you tell them exactly what to put in there, they have to find your tire size to put in. And if it's in spec but wrong in your thinking, and you go back............

Just saying - I can see both sides on this thing.

I know others have found as I have that you can pretty much ignore -or takes as "maybe close" the measurements you get from the tire size charts or the tire makers. There's also rolling circumference, so they can plug in a number - but what if?
There are federal laws involved from what I've seen looking into the bulletins on such things. Whatever a dealer does on tire sizes or things that impact the tracking of miles driven or speed driven they have to track and record.

I dunno, don't have a good answer, but it would seem that dealers would do this for a fee within certain parameters (since you are making a modification, it's not a warranty thing by any stretch - YOU CHOOSE to make the changes to tire sizes, you are not required to change tires. )

I called my dealer service to ask how much and he said basically the same thing. "We used to be able to but can't anymore. I can sell you a tuner (not Tazer) and we can install it for you".

I just decided to by a Taser.

I see your point. But what bothers me is some dealers will do it for free, others want to charge or they give you the run around and say they can't.. I've had dealers lie to me in the past.

I had an Audi Q5 and a stone hit the A/C evaporator. The dealer I took it to wanted $600. They said warranty doesn't cover accidents, I tell them the grill is enormous and there's no protection. "Sir, our hands are tied by AUDI North America there's nothing we can do" I Went to a different dealer 20min away. They gave me an Audi loaner and fixed the problem free of charge--the service advisor told me the wide grill was a know design flaw.

My M3's steering wheel started to peel and the dealer wanted $500, they said it was a wear and tear item. I went to another dealer, explained to them how the peeling leather slips when wet and it's going to cause me to crash..The tech called someone from BMW corporate and Gave me a brand new steering wheel that day.

That's only two examples of at least 8 bad encounters with dealers...So I try to avoid them as much as I can.

My dealer flashed my JL Wrangler for tire size at $125, but when I asked them to do the same for my Mojave they said that the factory flash is no longer available because of emission equipment rules.
