It’s not a Chrysler diesel. ;)

even worse, you’re a “Mojave” girl. j/k
But one recall, you have to admit Jeeps done a good job on the JT.
Dodge diesel same difference, they’re all the same…. They have a history of not putting out a reliable one, hence why they have Cummins do it right.

Didn’t mean to start a bash Diesel session…. Actually love my 3.0 and would take it every day of the week and twice on Sunday over the gas engine (yes, both in a Willys over same exact route when test driving and the difference was too hard to ignore).

I just want to make sure that those that have 3.0, even in the warmer climates that might not be suffering the joys of DEF in the winter issues, were aware of this programming update.

Someone has done the leg work on the TSB on another thread, and it took about a month for the swap to recall.

I’d have never had the appointment for today if I hadn’t seen that post, so just wanted to return the favor to the general board.

And given that of the 10 Jeeps from Compass to Grand Cherokee to Wrangler and another Gladiator, mine was the only diesel, clearly there are apparently issues with the gas engines as well.

Shockingly, no engine is apparently perfect, who knew?

Right now, I'm kinda glad I don't have a diesel. Gas here is $4.33/gallon and diesel is $5.25/gallon...means that heating oil will also be wicked expensive too...

I just called my heating oil company to come fill my oil tank before my contract runs out. I'm currently paying $3.06/gallon for heating oil under the contract (which runs out 30 April, and I might just top off again at that point on general principle). This will last me until next fall. I'm kinda scared as to what heating oil will be next fall ??????

I'm new to the whole jeep "scene" I guess. I mean, I had a TJ before but didn't really do forums with it, so didn't see this side. It's unbelievable how much hate there is between gassers and diesels sometimes. And between different trims of the same truck. Why? Drive what you want. Stuff happens sometimes. I think some of the earlier 3.6s had a misfire recall too. Mine didn't have that recall, but it had a clutch recall before I even bought it. I have a 3.6, but I respect my diesel brethren. Drive what you want and screw the rest.

? I drive a Mojave and two Rubis before that, all Chrysler diesels are garbage!
Of course you base that on internet complaints, or perhaps your personal experience, or better yet, technical studies? (naw, you never do the latter)
Of all of the issues that COULD be taking place with these - this seems to be pretty minor, IMO. One recall and it's for DEF programming - and it makes the JT diesel junk.

I think you actually hit on something - you drive, but otherwise really know little about anything technical.

I get 19 running around and 23+ on the highway (minus 1 in the winter).

the JT is great but the Pentastar is the best option and isn’t limited like the diesel is. Sure you get more power which is nice but the cost of maintenance isn’t worth it and

funny they use Cummins then, because they obviously can’t put out A reliable one, look at all the diesels they’ve made that have had major issues.

dodge made diesels have notoriously had major problems for years

Just set up my update at the dealer. I'm due for oil and a check-up at 30K (and no issues to far) so it's not that big a hassle.

Thanks to OP @Dakota Kid for the heads up on this.

And I'm with @NachoRuby, let's all just dig what we dig, and wheel the heck out of them. And I've wheeled with Mr. Nacho, so I know he means it!
