Misled? Why? I didn't see "be the first to own a JT advertised" anywhere. The only implication that these would be the absolute first JT's released (and only to those with blinders on) is the name Launch Edition. There is nothing anywhere that states that. The whole promotion for the LE was designed to be an experience from the very beginning and ending with the video contest for an opportunity to win 100k. I chose to order one because I wanted one. Sure I would rather have it sooner than later and if it turns out that I cant wait any longer, I'll buy one off the lot. My dealer would gladly keep the LE to sell.

Cracks me up to see individuals getting all worked up over nothing more than a Jeep order. lol

I don’t feel mislead . But I do think it was an unorganized cluster &$#@.
I don’t think they were prepared for it . I feel the prices were leaked and they rushed the launch. It’s apparent most dealers didn’t even know what to do in order to secure you one .

I don’t think they rushed the launch, although I do believe the lack of information to dealers was a huge reason for the confusion. When I go to a dealer and I know more about the product then they do, that’s a problem. They come across as incompetent, and I leave a frustrated customer. Lose, lose for everyone.

Sorry for those of you more savvy than me (or maybe sorry for me), i have never special ordered a vehicle before. The anticipation of the Gladiator and build up and then pre-sale really did make me feel like we were getting the first shot. Did i look for and then read to verify my expectations? Hell no, my bad, but as a loyal Jeep customer (four in the household today, my very first vehicle was a ‘84 CJ-7) i guess i was eager to take the bait. Also eager for greater carrying capacity than the wrangler is giving me actually did have me looking at other brands so today I am totally bummed to think i need to wait until August for my granite crystal. Patience is not my strong point, I tried being patient once but it just took too long

Honestly, if i knew there would be potential for other vehicles on the lot before this one would arrive i would not have ordered it, I will be paying for features and options that are not particularly valuable to me, was willing to pay up to expedite the process and thought what the heck, forward facing camera for my use? Could be cool I guess...

Looks like i will be dragging the trailer around behind the Jeep for a few more months...?

You are in the front of the special ordered line. You we be one of the first ones to have your choice color before anyone else that places a special order. If you find one on the lot that you would rather have. I would bet the dealer would take the LE for thith lot and sale you what you want. You are not locked in.

I’m the most impatient person on earth . Never waited for anything like this .

It’s a bit weird . Still to this day we get tiny drops of info here and there . I get frustrated but at the end of the day I know it will arrive soon and all is good . This forum has kept me sane lol

I'm really liking the leather dash instead of the metal. that alone was reason enough for me. Throw in some special wheels and badge and I am satisfied with what I am getting and when. At the end of the day the LE will be unique compared to the other models.

I just received my VON. Now the wait for my VIN. I take all the waiting in steps. I do not regret getting the LE

I recently went through “order anxiety” waiting for my 18’ JLR. Know that Jeep didn’t really have its act together after ordering. Dealers were completely in the dark. Doesn’t seem to be the same for this launch. Not only did I received the VON/VIN from my dealer but Jeep has also done the same in sending separate communications.

Knowing that my LE is in the system is good enough for me. I predicted late June or early July for delivery so anything earlier means Xmas comes sooner.

I believe it was intentional to keep the dealers out. Which I liked and agree with because no dealing with them and no markup. Think about it. Everything was processed online, what you were ordering and price was in print, you picked color and dealer of choice for shipping. Really do not need the dealer for any other info beyond that. Jeep did not say please see your local dealer for additional updates and information. That may have been an assumption but not the agreement. To me, what jeep did for the Launch Edition was more efficient than having to deal with someone at a dealership.

What?
  • Pricing was set by dealers. Some dealers priced at MSRP, some over, some under. Jeep had little pricing input other than suggested MSRP.
  • Nothing was processed on line. Entire order process had to be done by dealer, which had to match initial on-line form input. Just distracted from ordering straight up from dealer.
  • When I got the first call, I asked Jeep concierge several questions about details on LE, and they just kept reading from script "You need to ask the dealer about that". And yes, my dealer knew more about the process than Jeep concierge knew (even if my dealer was fed some info just the day before).
  • The fact that I had to even deal with the worthless Jeep concierge service just distracted from the order process.

"Pricing was set by dealers. "

Yes but they could only sell the LE to you. This gives you as the buyer great negotiating power. Aka... they needed you more than you needed them. You could go to any dealer you wanted.

The Jeep concierge process is what allowed these truck go to so many of us. It created a system where the highest bidder didn't get you a truck. It was as close to a direct factory buy as they could do.

This is a really great point I didn't think about or realize until now.

This was absolutely no different than any other custom order, other than you had only one configuration to pick from and the only option you had was color. If you wanted to place a custom order today (now that order banks are open), you can pick your dealer, pick your options (obviously many more options available now), and that JT will be built for you and only you. The pricing is strictly between you and the dealer when you place the order. No bidding war.

@Adawg1203 stated the price was in print. The price is whatever you negotiated with your dealer. Many folks didn't question LE pricing and are probably paying full MSRP. Many of us on this forum selected dealers that were 5% under invoice/~11% under MSRP. Again, that was a function of choosing the right dealer and had zero to do with Jeep concierge service.

The concierge service didn't add any value to that ordering process, other than to read from a script and try to connect you to a dealer. They had zero information on ordering timeframes and referred all my questions to my dealer. I had 3 entries in the on-line system (2 by me to change color, one by my dealer while I was on the phone with him) on 4/3. On 4/4 at 7AM I got the concierge call and they "tried" to connect me to my dealer (both of the initial calls before the dealer was even opened) by putting me on endless hold. My dealer called me independent of the Jeep concierge service when he arrived in the morning.
