Hey All,
I have searched the forums and cannot find the difference between Electric Power Steering Pump and EHPS Pump. The Forums seem to use these terms interchangeably but PSC does not. They have have Boost kit that clearly states one is for Electric Power Steering and the other for EHPS Pump. Do we have one over the other or are they both the same?
Thanks.

I would call PSC and ask them, I too thought the two terms were basically interchangeable.

I did reach out and they did not provide guidance to the difference but pointed me to "Electric" version and not the EHPS version. Still do not know the difference but assume based on what they told me, I would go electric. Now to get confirmation through additional sources before I buy one over the other. Trust but Verify...

I do not know what PSC is talking about. Maybe this will help, you can look at the pump you have . It is mounted on the pass frame rail.

Don't all JTs have a power steering fluid reservoir? Wouldn't that be the obvious yes/no? If it has fluid, it's hydraulic. Electric motor + hydraulic pump = EHPS, no? I think the problem is it's sometimes stated that it comes with an "electric power steering pump" as opposed to a belt driven pump, hence using "Electric Power Steering" (EPS) interchangeably (which isn't the full picture).

What product models are you actually debating between which are giving you confusion?

TatorBug asked about PSC's use of the terms electric power steering Pump and EHPS Pump.

I am not sure what you mean by "product models" My understanding is a Sport Willys, (JL), and a JT have the same set up, an electric power steering pump. (EHPS) and hydraulic steering gear. The steering gear could be aluminum or steel housing, depending on the model.

PSC does have the option to eliminate the electric pump and go with a mechanical pump.

Thanks everyone for the help. This is the one they sent to me for use:
https://www.pscmotorsports.com/ehps-boost-kit-1.html
Just noticed that the kit includes the APEX Valve with the PSC Cooler. Wow, no wonder this was confusing as APEX only offers the one kit.
Here it is again at another site (dont hate on me for using this site please. I get discounts)
https://www.extremeterrain.com/psc-...iator-ehps-pump-boost-kit-cooler-kit-bk1.html
The second one listed above as EHPS is also listed as the one used for the Diesel on the PSC website (that link below):
https://www.pscmotorsports.com/all-...ing-pump-kits/3-0l-diesel/ehps-boost-kit.html

In short, it appears to be a mute point since all of the different "versions" use the same APEX valve and where hardware is the only difference.
Wondering if I should just stick with APEX at this point for a fraction of the cost where the cooler is the only difference.
So, do I still want to know the difference, not soo much now as I know which kit to get. Was this made unnecessarily difficult, yes. All's well that ends well.
Thanks again and I hope this helps someone that searches the webs/forums in the future.

I helped install the APEX kit on a 2020 JL Rubicon. Very straight forward and it works well with 37's. I did not see any difference between the 2020 JL and my 2023 Gladiator. I'm glad it has worked out and your initial questions is why these forums are valuable to those that read them.
