The worst part of a truck cap is that it warrants the rearview mirror nearly worthless. Especially if you have a hardtop with a rear sliding window and a cap with a front sliding window. I haven't seen many product reviews for the Gladiator, so I am sharing my experience.

I purchased a Wolfbox G900 rearview mirror with a 4k front cam and 2.5k rear camera. It's a touchscreen and allows you to adjust brightness and vertical FOV with a few quick gestures.

I bought this mirror mount adapter.

This installation is straightforward, I ran the power and camera feed through the firewall in the passenger foot well. Then the camera feeds along the frame and into the bed through one of the factory holes. I currently have the camera magnetically mounted to my Smartcap until I finalize the mounting location. I installed the wiring so there is a connection between the top and bed for easy top removal.

The only downsides are that the mirror is 12" wide and interferes with dropping the visors, and the mirror sits lower than I'd like. I will design and make a custom mount to rectify the mounting location, which should fix the visor issue.

I'd prefer to have a traditional rearview mirror with an unobstructed view but this is far better than sighting through all the glass frames of the top and cap.

Hey, nice install. We just got one of these ourselves as we've got a half-height Rebel Offroad Xplor rack and added on their molle hatch. Viewing out the back was pretty bad. This mirror dash cam has helped. I came across your post while looking for a way to better position the mirror being strapped to the stock mirror. The adapter looks great. You are correct though, the visor situation is kind of a bummer. We're going to try out this adapter though. Thanks for the post!

One question though - if you happen to read this being your original post is a little old, the adapter mount lined up properly to be used with the Wolfbox without any modifications?

hey man since you installed this with a rebel 1/2 rack and molle you have a similar setup to me. Where did you end up mounting the rear camera? Just ordered my G900 and that’s what I’m trying to figure out.

Hey! I actually wound up taking everything down. Turns out the mirror is too big to fit with the sun visors and the driver-side sun visor would no longer come down because the mirror stuck out too far. I tried to live with it, but the sun would hit me, or glare would hit and it got too annoying for me to have to move the mirror, bring down the visor, re-adjust the mirror, then reverse that putting the visor back up. Couldn't keep doing it.

As far as mounting, I ran the wiring to the bed, up the rack leg, and then to the back top of the rack. I have a Rebel Offroad half rack, so basically it was mounted directly above the Rebel logo on the back. The mounting screws are tiny so I just drilled two tiny little holes for the camera screws to go into. The camera has a sticky back also, so that with the screws, it stayed in place without issue, and being a half rack, it was about the same eye level as a standard rearview mirror so the positioning worked out great too. I did however have to purchase the extended-length wiring from them, the wiring that came standard with the mirror would not reach.

I even contacted the company and mentioned that they have so many Jeepers promoting the mirror but no one ever mentions the visor situation. Turns out they didn't even know the mirror was too big for a standard Jeep Wrangler/Gladiator fitting. We are simply living with the Jeep mirror and hoping at some point we might find one that fits the Jeep properly.

Awesome! Thanks for the info! Yeah I rarely bring my visors down so I decided I’d rather have the visibility. I totally understand though, that would be annoying if you use them all the time.

I’ll make sure to grab the extension also!

im surprised they didn’t know seeing how many Jeep owners are running these and I’ve seen so many install videos that they’re promoting from folks but oh well. Hopefully a fix is in the future!

Yeah, that was their email response. They even looked at another they had and realized that was too big as well. It is what it is I guess.

Definitely get the extension. I didn't measure ahead of time, installed everything, ran the wires only to realize they weren't long enough. hehe.

LOL definitely something I would do too. Was the 33 length enough or did you have to do the 50?

This has been a nuisance for me but I have found the visor still works for 90%+ of my needs, I just need to pivot the mirror out of the way. I would like to have a smaller mirror, the size is unnecessary for the Jeep. Unfortunately, the front cam has limited line of sight around the adaptive cruise box as is.

Yep, I agree. The pivoting of the mirror just annoyed me too much, lol. Hopefully, they come out with a smaller size. But after the email response from them, doesn't sound like they get much feedback in regards to the size issue.
