Dimmer switch question

I wasn’t sure where to ask this question. I have a 22 Willy’s and have no idea what the left dimmer switch does. According to the manual it for all lights below the cluster. According to several fb opinions it is only for higher level gladiators. Do I have a worthless dimmer or is it broken?

It barely changes anything on my Sport S, even in pitch black the difference in the ambient lighting is almost un noticeable. It changed the lights in the cup holders and door handles, no sure where else the lights are.

Turn the right dimmer dial down 2 notches from full.

Then play with the left one, obviously when it's dark.

If the right one is maxed, you won't see anything with the left.

Too many on fakebook guess, toss stuff at the wall to see what sticks just to be the one with an answer - even if it's wrong.

Anyway, the book is the god of right and wrong on switches and controls, and in some lighting conditions or with some lights on or off, it may be hard to tell what's happening. Best to try things out at night, in full darkness.

I have seen personally on a Sport that the left dimmer does nothing.

So don't know what the deal is there.

If you have the center bar lights on, will it dim those? It's for dome and ambient lighting inside, just like rotating the light switch on your 1969 Camaro will dim the dome light - will it have any impact on the "dome" lights in the Sport?
OK, who has a Sport they can drive over here with to check this out..........

This was a basic, I mean BASIC, JT. No options whatsoever. Manual, no power windows, no heated seats or steering wheel, 5 inch screen, halogen lights. I think he had to order it to get it with nothing on it.
