DIY Mountain Bike Front Wheel ON Rack Mounts

Made these mountain bike front tire holders to connect to my bikes in without taking the front wheel off. Still need the tailgate down and require a bit of strapping down but they are good for short trips where I don't need to utilize the bed for anything else. About $45 for the aluminum, another $10 for plastic caps to fit in the tube. Probably in another $20 for the rest of the hardware.

Reviving an old thread to ask the obvious:
Doesn't anyone make bike holders that mount to the trail rails? With or without the front tire on the bikes? Need them soon for a November trip.

Thank you for the response and the link but at $350 a pop I will NOT be getting these. Sheesh!

I am picking some fork mounts that are lockable from Amazon. I plan to mount them to a 2x8 and in turn use some kind of notching, bolts & pad locks on each end to lock the 2x in the truck - though I will not be away from it while the bikes are in it. $700 to $1,050 for 2 or 3 bike holders is simply ridiculous to me.
