Here's how to swap out the 12 volt outlet for a dual USB and volt gauge - inspired by the ExpeditionOverland Proven videos.
I used an inexpensive dual USB port with an aluminum body from Amazon.
First step was pulling out the HVAC/Start cluster then then lower cluster - secured by one screw
Once you have the lower cluster out, you'll need to semi destructively remove the existing 12 volt outlet.
I found it easiest to remove the black rear clip, then slide the metal socket out the back and slide the plastic cover and surround out the front.
For my USB plug the existing hole was too small, so I drilled it out to 1-1/4"
Wiring is simple, the black is ground, the heavier gauge red is switched 12v, the pink with grey is 9v lighting.
Crimp, tape and secure everything so it doesn't rattle apart offroad.
You're all set.
