The LS is cheaper, simpler and has a larger aftermarket than the LT.

But eventually the LT will be where its at. Its an amazing engine. He gets better fuel economy than I do with the pentastar.
I’m not super well versed in the SBC so I tend to generalize them all as LS. But I know there’s a lot of options within that world. There’s a very good reason why they get swapped into anything and everything.

Differences include that the LT has:
1) reversed cooling - LT heads cooled first which allows higher compression ratio
2) direct injection - also allows higher compression ratio and more power
3) Variable valve timing - more torque at lower RPM and more power at high RPM
4) cylinder deactivation - can shut down 4 cylinders when there very little load.
5) LT about 50 lbs lighter. ONly made all aluminum.

LS introduced in 1996 ish.

LT in 2014 ish. (earlier LTs were something different)
