Oh no NY is plenty clear, if the doors are made to be removed you may do so. Occupants older than 16(?) May chose to not wear belts but all front seat occupants must. Children of a given size must use seat or booster and must be belted.

Ive had my top and doors off and my little monkeys all belted in their seats and no issues from the man. Now if adults were to choose to not wear belts that may get you noticed and given a lack of doors holding i belted passengers in would likely result in a "I dont care what you say, heres your ticket." Ticket.

The windshield topic though is very iffy and im very sure it all depends on the officer, the day, and what you did to be noticed.

That people routinely accept such draconian laws is baffling. Like the whole Pennsylvania inspection process so popular in some states

There's nothing wrong with the concept of inspecting vehicles to ensure they are safe. I can speak as someone who used to do smog inspections in CA and I have some horror stories about the condition of some of those vehicles. The problem comes from shady shops that flag you at 7/32" on your tires or half life on your brake pads or those which just look the other way and let things pass.

I'm all for doing away with window/door, seat belt, and helmet laws as long as people understand you're going to be held accountable for your actions. That means even if someone else hits you, if you decided to put yourself in danger by not wearing a seat belt and you get thrown, that's on you.

Speak not of jeep ejection. I've seen what happens when your passenger is ejected and then rolled upon by the roll bars while you wore your belt but managed to get both arms on the wrong side of the bar.

I myself like Massachuchets' position on helmet laws: Since it is state money, supplied by the residents, that pays to scoop you off the road and a state supplied/funded ambulance that carts you to the state supported hospital... well Sir, it's in the best interest of everyone to require you to wear a helmet.

My feelings are use the tools provided; wear your seat belts, don't drive like idiots, respect that your jacked up jeep can't and won't handle and enjoy the ride. That said I always wear my doors on a trail with she who must be obeyed because one branch wacking her in the face and there'll be a long and desperate plea to not sell it.

I have been pulled over and warned twice, once on the Main Line (Berwyn) and once on Ridge Pike in Plymouth Twp. Some Townships have posted warnings on social media to Jeepers to keep their doors on or be ticketed. The way the PA vehicle code is written is vague, but I am not aware of a judge that has set precedent in favor of Jeepers.

There have been petitions and a currently stalled state legislative bill. Even Gov. Wolf is a Jeeper.

@Blu542 i was in Berwyn today, no doors and freedom panels off - Easttown cop pulled next to me asked where my doors were and told me odorless was illegal - probably same cop.

That’s unfortunate, I’m right on Easttown’s border. They seem to be more lax in western Chester County. I saw about a dozen wranglers w/o doors in Caln/East Brandywine area today. I generally only pull the doors while on vacation in MA or DE/MD.

Oh...so NY has the same issue? Too bad. I am in Putnam county for half the year and will see what I can get away with on doors.
From Maryland, but a friend got a citation in Carlisle, PA for no doors. If I head that way in the summer, I make sure I have my soft doors handy to throw on.
