While on my way back from GA to TX this week, I noticed some clunking sounds coming from the front end of the my mojave. When I got home I think I’ve narrowed it down to the drag link. Does this slop look normal?

Need to take it to the dealer this weekend for the yearly inspection, and was going to bring it up but I expect the standard “no trouble found” answer

Hard to exactly tell from your video, but if you're moving it up/down and it's sort of rotating on the ball joints, then yes: that's normal.

What you DON'T want is side-to-side.

If you have a helper, you can have them sit in the JT and slowly turn the wheels side-to-side while you look. If you see the draglink move, even a little, but the wheels hesitate before they move then there's a problem.

I hope my description was clear!

thanks, I think this movement is what you describe as OK. But I’ll have my wife help me tonight and check what you said. Might as well bring it up to the dealer and ask them to check all the torque on the front end. Hopefully it’s always been there and I’ve just never noticed it. But I don’t ever recall such loud clunking sounds coming from the front end of my wrangler.

Yes, the pivot movement as you show is normal as said above. My 22 JTR does that but I don’t hear any clunking from it while driving.

When I got my JTR home when it was new I got underneath and retorqued all the nuts and bolts in the front and back suspension parts and found the majority of them were loose.

oh boy. Yea I only recently started to hear it after a 1000 mile trip. Which is odd when it has 24k miles on it. So my initial thoughts are something came loose.

No, that is a problem... it just may, or may not, be the track bar! :)

I have a clunking sound on my Mojave as well, did you ever figure out the source? Mine only happens when I’m driving slow through a parking lot or driveway.
