So my next question is about a speaker. What have you installed for a speaker for your radio??

No need. Mine projects right up the glass and sounds good.

I’ve not looked closely at what to do in my Gladiator yet, but I’ve been more than happy with a Cobra speaker I picked up at a Flying J truck stop. I had it under the front passenger seat. While I would like to come up with a more imaginative solution in the JT, the JK under-seat works very well. It was always loud and clear for my needs.

There are a few good ground available. I have used a lug behind the front passenger kick panel. I put a good 10 gauge wire on it and brought it out behind the glovebox for easier access and put an Anderson Powerpole connector on it.

Drop the windshield makes it super easy to route the wires to the battery and behind the dash.
What is that big behemoth that says Radiodaily and OFF ROAD on it? Is it a ham radio?

would you mind describing the way you have the antenna mounted? This is the place I want to put mine. What you have is very clean!

That is super clean, would love to know what that set-up is as well (mount and antenna) ... looking to do the exact same thing.

I installed mine using the factory wiring also. As others have mentioned it was pretty easy.

I personally wouldn't recommend using the AUX wiring unless you're using low-power high frequency radios. I'm in the process of wiring my HF 100 watt rig in and you have to make multiple decisions on it.
On mine the radio body resides under the rear seat with just the head unit up front. I ran 6 awg shielded marine wire directly from the battery, on top the frame, and through a drain plug under the seat. Easy peasy. The ground wire must not be connected to the battery, it has to be connected to the body point where the battery connects to. The positive can go direct to battery. You can create a ground loop if you don't do that that if your battery looses connection to body ground. (Your ground wire then becomes the ground for the Jeep and hitting the starter will put about 300 amps across it.) Getting power directly from the battery will give you the cleanest power to your radio with little to no vehicle RFI interference. The large 6 awg wire prevents voltage drop to the radio end and I only lose about 1-2% max for the distance ran. 100 Watt radios can draw up to 40 amps of power and won't transmit at full power if your voltage has dropped.
Everything has to be well grounded for HF. I'm using a screwdriver antenna so that I can get the SWR down as low as possible for any given frequency before transmitting. Any reflected power on HF will come back through the wire and into your Jeep and will play havoc with the can-bus system above 20-30 watts and really weird stuff will happen in your Jeep like the doors will lock themselves, ABS light will come on, etc.
If you install your radio and key up to talk and you start experience weird stuff happening with your vehicle electronics, check all your grounds including making sure your antenna is well grounded to the body.

Sorry just saw this. Backrack is for a small truck (think i picked colarado), then used the Tacoma mounting kit. I bolted the kit to my management system made from uni strut. If you PM me i can check my amazon orders for exact numbers.
