Hello everyone,
I am struggling with a decision, and am hoping that I can get some advice from you all. I currently drive an '04.5 Ram 2500 with a 5.9L Cumins. I have built it up for "overlanding" and it's been a great rig, but she's outdated, loud, and heavy AF... like 8800lbs when heading out for a week in the desert.... I hit the scales just before a trip one time.
I'm ready for something newer, and lighter. I absolutely love the look of the Gladiator, but can't decide on the ecodiesel or the gaser. I'm not sure that I want to deal with the whole DEF system. I hear that it adds a lot of extra weight, and that the "re-gen" cycle can be a real pain, especially if it decides it wants to activate while out on the trails.
If I went the gaser route, I could add a RIPP or Hamburger supercharger to it..... buuut I've never had a supercharged vehicle, so my knowledge about them is limited...
Either way I go, I'll be getting the sport trim level because I'll be heavily modifying.... I just wish i could get that adaptive cruise control with it... love that for long roadtrips with my wife's SUV. What are your thoughts and experiences with either of these powertrains?
