15,000? Damn. Personally would rather put that towards an engine swap.... 3.6 internals aren't known to be super reliable.
[/Q
Yeah I thought about going with the HIMI swap, but the 5.7 would be more involved, would have less horsepower and it would have been way more than I could handle to put a Demon, Hellcat or even the Helephant engines in my Gladiator! The wife bought me this truck for our 40th anniversary and told me I could go nuts …and supercharging it is just me doing that. I don’t really do off road stuff, at the most I may go to Pismo beach. My truck is pretty pampered it’s garaged and about as dirty as it gets is when I drive it in the rain! If I blow this engine I may think about doing the HEMI swap … but for right now I am just gonna have fun with it!

Congratulations! I'm sure you love the power. In my case, my JTR is paid off and KBB has it at around $33k average trade. If I were to add $15K to that sum it would put me right at $48K which is what a good slightly used heavy duty truck would cost and can tow double of what the JT can. The issue at hand is that in the JT, even with a supercharger, the tow rating stays the same, legally. That is my main beef with dropping a supercharger. I'm not going to lie, I would love to have one, it just doesn't make any sense to me, well, even if it did, my wife would say no, regardless.
Again for me I am just in it for the fun of it! I just love the power and being linear as I am (no do overs) a little nonsense sometime is precious to the wisest man!

There are a few of us!

I tow a bit, My trailer is apx 5k.

https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/magnuson-tvs1900-kit-available-now.25396/

I get 10ish mpg or so trailering, and 15 mpg on the road, running 35's".

I do get some heat issues towing on big grades in the summer, so watch your temps. Just a mater of backing off.
Oh yea you can raise the performance, but nothing you can do will raise the stock tow rating from the factory, which means the HD Factory installed Towing Package will give you a legal 7,700lbs, or under an overall CGVWR. According to the Jeep Manufacturers site the Gladiator Sport/S has the highest CVWR, that’s the curb weight, 150 allowance for a driver with full tank of gas, with a 7,700 lbs travel trailer. Means a total of 12,850 lbs.
IMG_2160.webp
so you need to load up with everyone and thing as your traveling, then drive on a scale to be sure your not over 12,850 w max tow, or 9,650 without. The supercharger will increase your horsepower to pull easier, but not anymore.

As far as the tow rating goes with my trailer I am way below! I do not plan on ever towing any more than what I do now! I am really happy with how my truck pulls my trailer now. its just the wife and I and I think that even if we were to add some extra weight say 500 or 600 more pounds we would still be ok!

I’ve seriously considered adding forced induction to my ‘21 JTR, especially since we live at 6,500’ elevation, and naturally aspirated engines lose power that high, but I just can’t quite commit. Does the Magnuson setup require premium fuel? Are there any issues with engine coolant or oil temps? Any information you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

54% increase in power....pretty good. I might worry about the stock internals a little when getting into it.
I ran one for four years. It was a lot of fun. We ran in Florida, ambient temps from 30 degrees F to 98 degrees F. We also live half the year out side Asheville, NC. Elevation was 2000 ft above sea levels to 6500 ft above sea level. No real problems. If I kept my foot out of it, not much change. When I got in it hard, the mileage dropped significantly. The only reason we don’t have it now is because someone ran into the Jeep and totaled it.

I supercharged a 2014 Toyota Landcruiser 5.7 with a Magnusson set up. Install was done by a Toyota dealership who was very experienced with these installs, as these SC's were actually sold by Toyota dealers under the TRD label. The Magnusson power was great, even scary great, but the bearings needed replacement after about 25K miles. I did not get on it hard frequently, but the SC spins all the time, so make sure you pay attention to the bearings, and when you start to hear some unusual noises, get it in to your mechanic for a check. And I recognize this was not a Jeep JT experience, but it was a Magnusson SC. Like others, I am thinking $15K gets me almost halfway to a 5.7 install, which is a robust motor that runs on regular.

IMO, and I'm just speaking in generalities, There's a reason most companies with towing vehicles opt for the Turbo over the Supercharger. Especially with the 3.6's stock internals the superchargers haven't been identified as a super reliable mod for jeeps that will be worked hard when towing. I looked into it with mine, but something with the computers changed late 2020 or early 2021, and the computer can't be programed on the newer models. Magnuson has a write up on their website about it (https://magnusonsuperchargers.com/p...ADajcjr8tr7lF6ua0lY-UFFMfxWaKKaBoCbwcQAvD_BwE)

Rubicon is good up to 7K lbs, but that's in the perfect condition (180 driver, no passengers, no load, ect...) Everything you add to it drops your rating, and every Mod you make affects that as well. Looks like your tires have been bumped up a size, so that's going to drop your capabilities slightly.

At the end of the day if your wanting it to tow like a full size, it's not going to. My Gladiator pulls my 5K boat/trailer pretty well, but it will never pull it like a full size truck, the length/width/weight is a huge factor and that can't be changed by adding HP or gears.
You are spot on here. You always lose something to get something, that's how it works when adding to or changing a Jeep. Not being a smart ass here or demean the thread commentors but I can't tell you how many times I have listened to guys with Jeeps who spend thousands of dollars to mod their vehicle adding countless pounds to the vehicle and then they complain about the mileage. The mileage sucks from the factory thanks to the constant detuning going on at the factories to meet increasingly unattainable emissions goals. If mileage matters to a person, then I advise them to not buy a Jeep.

Yeah superchargers are actually a parasitic loss most of the time. They're great for when you need them, but a total powersuck when you're not needing them. As if these engines don't have enough stacked against them, you add a big ol honking air pump for the engine to turn and then that pump makes pressures and power potential that is trying to kill the rest of the engine. It's a beautiful conundrum. The law of conservation of energy says that energy cannot be created or destroyed, it just changes forms. The output of a supercharger will never outweigh it's cost in heat, friction, pumping losses, etc.

93 octane.
Sorry, my mistake, the 5.7 hemi calls for at least 87 octane (I only see 87 around here in AZ, haven't seen 85 in forever).
