I am having a hard time deciding between a 6x12 or a 7x14 enclosed cargo trailer. It's somewhat slim pickings now, but Im starting my search to see availability. I have read on the Jeep JT pages that 7' wide trailers are barely manageable due to visibility issues even with mirror extensions. But, Im having a hard time finding even new 6' wide cargo trailers that are dual axel. The single axle trailers just dont seem to have the payload capacity to get gross trailer weight at around 5500lbs.

What are your all's opinions? 6' or 7' wide?

I wouldn’t go wider than 7. My car car hauler is 28x8.5 and you can’t see a damn thing even with the tow mirrors. I’m looking to sell it and get 7x16 or 7x20

People go nuts when they see this picture…. Lol. The only sketchy part was changing lanes. That could be resolved with the side marker cameras though. Otherwise it pulls it no problem.

I guess it depends on what you are doing the the trailer. I converted my 6x12 into a cargo/camper. 6‘ wide is great for tow sighting. Not so good if you want to sleep across the trailer. Luckily my wife and I are short. My 6’2 friend borrowed it and had to sleep diagonal. ?

I'd be more interested in what's INSIDE that rig... ;)

Hauling stuff. Like during a move, materials, etc. Hence the desire for dual axle.

I understand there are the weight considerations for the trailer, tongue weight, and cross-sectional area of the front.

I believe there are 180 red nosed clowns.

How did you know?!? Lol lol.

I mostly use it for moving stuff, hauling things around like a Miata to the track and Polaris. When I bought it I had a dually duramax, then a Cummins dually so getting the extra length was no brainer for small cost difference. Now it’s just too much. No plans for bigger truck anytime soon. Sold the fifth wheel and other stuff too. Time to downsize to size more fitting like you’re thinking.
