Just got back from a 1000 mile round trip GA-MS-GA. On the way home I experienced power loss going up hills. Downshifting all the way to 5th and hunting between 5th-6th on a steady climb. It was even changing gears going down hill between 7 and 8. Earlier in the day I was thinking to myself how it was holding 8th gear on minor inclines. Something it rarely does. Now all of a sudden it is revving like crazy. Cruise control was in use.

So I pulled into the nearest truck stop, gassed up and hoped for the best. Still had about 150 miles to go. It was fine the rest of the way home. Ran great.

Going to dealer on Monday.

Just keeping those who are following this in the loop.

I did bring the truck in (see above) and they said w/o an error code they wouldn't look at it. So I just got back from a GA-FL-GA trip and it exhibited the same issues. It would run great and then stumble on its' knees going up a hill.

I had my OBDII device with me and after the check engine light finally went on I grabbed the code which was P000C: "A" Camshaft Position Slow Response Bank 2. It was bank 1 before when I brought it in.

I also looked at cylinder misfires after it threw that code and on cylinders 2-4-6 it threw 25-22-29 misfires per cylinder.

This engine really goes to crap after some misfires. I understand it would run bad while getting misfires but not sure what the programming is to make it run bad after they stop. A power off/on fixes it for awhile. This happened at least once on the trip down and 2-3 times on the way home.

Now they can't get me in the shop for 3 weeks. Is this normal that they treat each issue like it's the first time you've brought it in? This is now the 3rd time going back for related issues and each time they give it back to me "it's fixed". In my business, our customers would be at the front of the line to get them back into service again. Guess the auto business doesn't care too much if they lose future business.

Happened to me on bank 1 was 5 min fix . Bank to the sensor is under the plenum and is more in depth meaning the seals for the plenum will have to be purchased also .

Maybe a phaser cleaning sequence is needed. they do get sluggish - very tight tolerances takes very little to get them gummed up.

sounds like your shop should be hanging this sign on the door................

That would be the last time my shadow would fall upon any dealership that told me that.

Just proves they are code monkeys and nothing else. Part of the blame is the warranty process structure with FCA and the dealership. Does not pay for them to actually do true diagnostics unless they have a code to bill upon and follow a troubleshooting tree that may or may not lead to the problem.

Latest update - Brought my Gladiator in on 7/14. They opened another Star case on the 15th. On 23rd Jeep responded and recommended replacing the oil control valve and intake cam phaser on bank 2. Parts ordered. Now we wait.

On the plus side they gave me a 2025 Gladiator Nighthawk to get around in.
