I’m pretty sure… anything listed in Carfax, is because it was reported to the insurance company and a claim was involved.

A backyard mechanic or even a local auto shop isn’t going to have their service records available for the general public to see. Unless you knew exactly where the ’rebuild’ was done - you’d have to call them directly.
The CarFax does list all the oil changes and tire rotations and I did talk to that shop. The simply said they don''t do any mechanical work and couldn't release owners name. I'm not sure what is listed in CarFax but I've seen many that were NOT reported to insurance.

The point being.... not everything will show in Carfax. If oil changes or tire rotations are being reported to Carfax, it's the shop itself who's decided to report it. I'm sure those shops are probably registered, or under contract with carfax.
