I have been getting a P2002 error code recently. Currently I have an extended warranty that expires at 100K and I'm at 97K now. Dealership replaced the particulate sensor last time I got the P2002 code. About 1K miles later it came back, so I cleared the code through my Tazer and it hasn't come back yet, but worried it will. I have been reviewing EOC's website and it is hard to understand the difference between stage 1 and stage 2. Here are my assumptions, can anyone verify if this is correct?

Stage 1 - Have the option to turn off EGR and DEF, but you still keep factory exhaust and all of the DEF system.

Stage 2 - The tune turns off EGR and DEF, and you must remove DEF tank. It look like you also need to install the aftermarket exhaust.

I'm not really concerned about having to remove the DEF tank or exhaust, but if both tunes turn these items off why do you remove parts with a stage 2 and not the stage 1? Sorry for the questions, but this will be my first deleted vehicle and I want to understand what I'm ordering.
They cover this in their FAQ - https://eocperformance.com/pages/customer-faq

Q: What are the differences between stage 1 and stage2
A: Stage 1 is emissions intact, requires no physical modifications. EGR is turned off. Def adder can turn def fluid off. DPF functions as normal.
Stage 2 is off road, All emissions are turned off. It requires at minimum a race exhaust kit to be installed.
You don't need to remove the def tank, you can simply cap the line, flush and drain the tank. I'd be curious what people are using the space for if they do remove it.

If you are out of warranty or don't care about it Stage 2 is the simpler way to go long term (may cost a bit more up front for the axle forward exhaust). Many stick with stage 1 so they can swap their Original ECM back in and take it to the dealer/shop for work.

Running DPF without DEF can lead to it clogging quicker, depends on how the ECM is tuned and how much richer it decides to run.

Please explain this? The DEF is injected into the SCR which is downstream of the DPF.

It depends on what the ECM is tuned for/doing. If the ECM is still trying to be emissions compliant and run without DEF it can richen the A/F mixture to try and keep NOx within the regulatory limit. A richer burn will generate more soot than a def-equipped system running leaner, increasing the frequency of regens.

The difference may be negligible but I'd reach out to EOC or MrTuning to find out their strategy or if they just ignore emissions in their stage 1 tune. The EOC FAQ mentions all emissions are intact, it doesn't say whether that is only physically or in software/the tune as well.
