My Gen 2 Ram has been EOC tuned for nearly 300K lol.

Randomly, very rarely, I have a service throttle error, I reload the tune, reset the taps, and send it on it's way for another 75k.

I’ll be interested in how it goes for you. I’m mostly interested in turning off the EGR, the extra bit of power would be nice too.

Unsure if the Gladiator uses the same deal, but I have a little handheld tuner, my stock tune is on it, my 20 and 40 hp tunes are on it.

It's also a code reader, so whenever it happens to me, I just pull it out of the console, a few taps, a few minutes, I'm on my way again.

I've only done it 2, maybe 3 times ever, otherwise it just sits in the 40 hp tune and I literally never think about it, except when I hear someone say DEF.

I'm getting the EOC stage 1 tune. There are three options for the tune and one for DEF on/off. I'm looking for feedback on your experience with an EOC stage 1 tune. Which one did you get, how does it perform, is fuel consumption better or worse, would you do it again, etc. Your feedback is appreciated.

Econo (optimized stock, 20hp 30tq)
Towing (30hp 50tq)
Street (50hp, 80tq, NOT recommended for towing)

What happens when DEF is turned off? Do I have to modify the system in any way?
I was trying to find the same thing. I sent EOC an e-mail using the Ask an Expert about this item on the website and first response I got was this ask the sales team this is the technical e-mail. I sent the sales team the question and they just responded this morning but didn't exactly answer my question. Not sure if anyone here knows the answer. The website has a few add-on options but the website doesn't explain what they are or what they do and EOC didn't explain it either as this the response I got from them:

Original E-Mail to EOC:
I am looking to get my 2022 Gladiator tuned but I have a couple questions. I am having issues with the DPF. Constantly getting the CEL Error P24A4. I am looking to get it tuned to remove the DPF\DEF. Does the Stage 1 tune do that? What are the additional options ( Pre Tuned Ecu & Stage 1 DEF Adder)? I tried looking on the website but there was no description on what they are or what they do. My gladiator is currently my daily driver it has a a 6.5 inch lift on 42s. What would you recommend for the tune on it? Thank you.

Response from EOC:
Hello,

Stage 2 tuning is required to resolve DPF related issues. Stage 1 requires a functional DPF filter.

Thanks!

It looks the website has been update as now it shows the a blank ECU for the tuning so it explains it a little better but I still don't know what the DEF Adder does.

The DEF Adder option is if you want the DEF system disabled.

Their email replies and website info is severely lacking! There is a DEF delete option, EGR delete option, engine braking option, and I got a Boost overlay on the DEF gauge, which I had to ask for, it's not advertised. No telling what other options might be available, as you know, very little info from them. I like my tune, except for the surge when feathering the throttle. I plan to ask them if that surge can be tuned out.

Can you expand on that? How often does it occur? How bad is it? First I've heard of it. Please let us know what they say!

Hard to describe... From a stop or idle roll, when you slowly increase throttle, you would expect the engine to slowly increase rpm. Instead, it starts to increase rpm, then it surges. It's in no way uncontrollable, just not what you would expect. They advertise "better pedal response", so I think that's their way of "bettering" it. But it's annoying when your feathering the throttle, like you do when finessing it up a rocky hill. Each time you press the throttle, it surges.

I'm traveling until October. I'll address it with them when I'm home.

Did you ever get this resolved? I had the very same problem in my Tacoma with the OTT tune. My guess is, when tuners "improve throttle response" all they are doing is adding a multiplier to the throttle sensor output.

I debated whether to contact them about this for the 4 months we were overlanding out West. I was worried that if I did complain about it and sent the unit back for reprogramming, they would take it personally and make it horribly unresponsive. I've not had a "good customer service" experience with EOC from the start. But, I may still contact them. I have been in the Caribbean since the end of our overlanding adventure, so it's been out of mind. I'll be home in March, will decide then. I'll update the post if I do.

If I could actually TALK to EOC on the phone, I would not hesitate to fix it. Apparently they only do email. If anyone knows a secret to contacting them by phone, I would be grateful.

the surge is my only complaint about my econo tune from EOC. I bought the Trans tune to help with it but haven't installed yet. It sounds like you already have the trans tune and it still has the surge?

Stage 1 and the trans tune make taking off very snappy... way too sensitive. I was also having some weird behavior towing my travel trailer, made me nervous. I have reprogrammed my TCM with the stock tune for now ... I am awaiting a response to my email from EOC, which is taking forever.

Yes I have the trans tune. The surge comes from the PCM.
