Last week the buttons on my steering wheel on my 2020 Gladiator just stopped working. All of them except the cruise control. They don’t light up or function in any way. So I called my dealer and they can’t see me until 1/20. The very next day my driver’s side sunvisor broke and is now dangling. Now I have a recall notice about an emissions issue. What gives?? I have less than 6,000 miles on this truck and I feel like it’s falling apart. I am not rough with it in anyway so I’m very concerned about this sudden breakage.

Sucks to hear about the steering wheel. Sun visors are a known issue- a thread on here has an alternative fix. I’m on my 2nd Gladiator and it’s had no issues (can’t say the same about the first)… Good luck

Recalls are recalls, there are two out for mine, meh so what.

The visor is a know issue, week spot.

As for the wheel, probably a faulty color ring (it connects the moving wheel and all it's stuff to stationary column), parts fail. What a warranty is for.

You have 2 parts on a 1000+ part machine that are faulty. It's not the end of the truck :)

Honestly, I think it's just a bad luck thing. I haven't heard widespread reports of issues with the steering wheel stack/buttons. The mirror is a weak point, reported but I wouldn't say there's any indication it's even 10% or 5% or 1% of vehicles at this point. My mirrors have been abused terribly since I have an interior windshield lightbar but they are holding firm. Well, they pop out of the clips but it's not the truck's problem, that's my install's fault. Your dealer not getting you in for 3 weeks isn't uncommon.--I've found that's just as likely to be the person you speak to and how polite you are (not claiming you aren't, of course). My first attempt at getting a disappeared swar bar endlink nut/bolt replaced (that magically disappeared somewhere) was met with a one month wait. When I asked to speak with the manager at a Jeep Wave oil change/tire rotation and noted that they had had hands on that bolt twice in the last six months for the lift install and suspension re-torque and that having a one month wait for a nut/bolt was a bit much, he threw it on a lift and enthusiastically replaced it on the spot. I have asked myself and It's hard to say if that's Jeep's issue, their dealer network. I've been debating that bit myself, what part Jeep could do to shore up their near-useless dealer network.--At least around here I'm still looking for a good dealer that matches the expenditure I've put into buying and outfitting my masterpiece.

That is a huge bummer man. Especially on a new truck, I'd be livid. The service sounds ridiculous as well. On the bright side, you are not have the misfire issues and your truck can move forward mechanically. Also, no leaks. But I can commiserate with the feeling of being stuck with a lemon. If you do feel like you have a lemon, try and make the most of it, lose the least value and get another vehicle when you can even at a loss. As you've heard some folks are having no issues and wheeling their rigs.

It sucks but nbd. Try a different dealer then if you have to wait almost a month.

The steering wheel is probably a bad clock spring. My Wrangler had a recall on that at one point.

My immaculate ‘20 JTR had a bit over 15,000 miles when I bought it in July from Carvana. I’ve wondered if it sold was because of little issues like these but I’ve put almost 6,000 miles on it since then and not a single problem so far. I’m really enjoying it and I am coming out of what was a top of the line tuck when I got it. A 2014 GMC 2500 Denali.

Of course the Gladiator doen’t has the heavy duty work capability of a 2500HD truck but it does everything I need easily.

Thanks for all of the responses. I’m not as upset as I was but I’ll be glad when it’s repaired. I love the truck but my admiration of it certainly took a hit.

Sorry OP. Glad to hear you still love the truck and your frustration is less.

I bought a 1994 Jeep Wrangler Sahara new when I was 17 and had nothing but issues with it. I said then I wouldn't buy another Jeep and then out comes the Gladiator and I wanted a truck. I've learned understanding and patience along the way.

So in comes my 2020 Launch Edition. One recall for the drive shaft and that was a straightforward fix. Steering box was just replaced this week under a TSB. And the rear window leaks water that's progressively gotten worse. Parts are ordered and it should be resolved in the next couple of weeks. I have the truck while we await parts.

It's always frustrating when things happen. And things do happen. Hopefully the dealer takes good care of you, communicates well, and resolves issues to your satisfaction. And the rest of your miles are trouble free and enjoyable.

I have to wonder about the visors thing - I mean if they are unclipped and turned and pulled out on the side, I can see a problem with the weight and the vibrations. But if it's up front, clipped in the middle and only pulled down, how is there any force to break things??
I use my visors all the time - well, a lot. The only time I could see any real stress is when they are unclipped and swung to the side.
Is that what's happening?
Mine is over 2 years old, over 24,000 miles and the visors still work fine. Every time they aren't needed to the side, they get slid back to the front and clipped back in place. There's zero stress on the outer ends then so I can't see them breaking loose.
Is everyone leaving them unclipped or swung to the side windows? IS that when they break?

As far as that emissions recall - big deal, it's a nuttin thing. They flash it, you take it home.

Try the recalls and complaints on other vehicles.
I wonder what the 1,000,000 vehicle recall for sun roofs that fly off the car at highway speeds has cost Mercedes?
