Thanks for all the great info in this thread, installed mine last night with the utility rails. Definitely a time consuming process to get all the holes positioned correctly to match up to the utility rails, but looks great when done. I just need to grab some adhesion promoter to stick down the bedrug around the bed lights and onto the tail gate areas.

For the install with the utility rails, I actually cut a vertical slit into the bedrug in the upper rear corners (where the utility rails meet the back of the bed) to allow it to better conform around the corners to the tailgate opening and not bunch up so bad at the back corners of the rails. Seems to have helped me anyways.

If anyone has questions/comments let me know.

Did you cut out fully for the trail rails, or reinstall over the top of the bedrug?
I don't have trail rails, but am installing my own unistrut rails. Not sure if I should bolt in now, or wait until I have the rug installed and bolt over the top.

I currently have my bed rug sandwiched between the trail rails and bedside. My thought was that they'd help hold the bed rug in place, especially if I'm driving down an interstate with the cap off and the wind is ripping at the bed rug and potentially trying to pull it out of the bed.

The downside to that is that I think the bed rug gives a bit of cushioning under the rails and *might* allow the rails to pry up/down a bit if you strap something tall down to them. I don't really do that so I don't have concerns, if I strap anything tall down I just attach to the d anchors in the bottom bed corners.

Got it, thank you. I might cut around my side rails, and either sandwich the front rail or just not install it at all. My Tacoma's had side rails from the factory and I installed a front rail on my own, but I never really used it except for a dirt bike wheel chock. And I have a trailer for that sort of thing now. 98% of the utility was just those side rails.
