A long time ago I was sitting in a rest stop in PA on I 80 in my tractor trailer. A PA State Trooper came running up to my truck, Driver got your extinguisher!?!

I put his patrol car out from an electrical fire while he disconnected the battery.

A few months later I pull into a PA inspection set up with a headlight out. Guess who was doing the inspection! I was heading to the TA truck stop to get it replaced anyway, but it was nice to not get a ticket too!

Since then I don't roll with out one.

I am sooo glad I don't drive trucks any more. Machining is so much more fun.

My setup was all purchased through Quadratech... accessible but not intrusive.
Can u send the link to the fire extinguisher holder?

BTW, the actual fire extinguisher itself on Quadtrac has two options. 1lb and 5lb.
What do folks normally carry?

fyi. Had a small fire extinguisher in my JKUR for the last 8 years. Only had to pull it out once.
It was an antique car that was smoking and when I pulled over (not too close cos I didn’t my vehicle to get burned), a small fire had started.
I ran out and pulled my extinguisher from the back of the JKUR. I even did a short pull to make sure it was working.
Thankfully the fire was out by then (he had gotten some blankets and threw them on the engine.

dangerous as the blankets could have made the fire even bigger if they got lit but oh well.
Anyhows. Thanks to everybody for sharing. Hoping to get my fire extinguisher installed sooner vs later.

I have the JCR mount with a Lowes hardware auto extinguisher. plus an element on the back of the drivers seat.
the JCR needed to be "adjusted" a bit to make that extinguisher work right with the seats.
reversing the lower bracket enables the rear seat to fold and move as intended. kicking the bottom end "outboard".
without it, the rear seat was blocked by the extinguisher,

A co-worker of mine recently parted ways with his JT. For a steal I got the below bracketeer, fire extinguisher and not pictured is a brand new in box AEV rear diff cover.

I keep an Element 50 in the cab right in front of the drivers seat and will be running a traditional style extinguisher in the bed. If a fire happens it’s probably going to be close to the cabin of the vehicle. Something about that’s where all the electrical and gas and everything come together. I want it somewhere I can either reach it instantly or where it will be a decent distance away from the fire. If I have to get out of the vehicle and then open up the back door to the vehicle that, in my mind, just lets more oxygen get to the fire creating a bigger problem. Most fires I’ve seen on the trail or on the road have been either engine, wire smoking, or brush caught in the transfer case area. I have put out a few brush fires along the highway though as well so good fire extinguisher is paramount out here in rural SoCal.

I carry both or some combination of the Element,Halon,or Dry chem. The dry chem is used as a last resort. The dry chems are messy and cause more damage..Pricey but worth it to me.Small fire, element or Halon.Big fire dry chem.
