Hello from Colorado! I'm Mike. I just picked up my first Jeep. It's a 2020 Gladiator Sport S with the 8spd. I really wanted a 6 spd manual, but there was a freeze on selling them due to a recall and them not being able to get the parts to fix the issue. Now I'm learning to drive an auto as it's the first one I have ever owned. (I catch myself looking for a clutch)
I'm new to Jeeps, but not new to cars or off-roading. My last trail rig was an 85 K20 Burban with a Muncie 4 speed. I'm looking forward to learning a lot. I'll read a lot and ask a crap ton of questions.
Right now it's bone stock. I'm digging on driving it as it's the nicest riding straight axle I have ever driven. It's my daily driver and kid hauler. I'm a single dad with 4 boys.
The plan is to build a daily that can be off road driven from time to time. I'm going to get the bed Line-Xed and put skid plates under the Jeep. Also looking at rough country wheel to wheel nerf steps. I'm seeing complete Rubicon suspensions that are essentially brand new going for $400 and under so I am contemplating that addition. I will be curious to see how the factory Sport S tires do in the snow.
That's all for now. Look forward to learning from the collective experience of the group. Always down for a pint if you are local. Cheers!
