Oh dang another potential bad habit. . . I was on the RC cars game a long time ago. R. R. was the President then. I still have the RC controller from then, I tried to get back at it in early 2000's. To many other things though.

Good ol' 27MHz and 49MHz bands for toys, when you could piss off your friends by having the same RC as them.

Heck my Terrain Twister used the 49MHz band.

You should keep an eye open, I'm getting impatient waiting for the boat to arrive in CA, will only take a week at that point. It got delayed almost 2 weeks after clearing customs. At least I won't be stuck with some stupid "tariff" BS. Such a sham. "Buy american..." when it's produced/shipped from Taiwan, vs produced/shipped from mainland China.

My 450 Enduro was made in China, and other than the retailer in Utah sending me a defective engine (less than 1% produced are defective, and they make engines for HD, BMW, Piaggio, Apriliia, Norton, and more) then refusing to honor their warranty before blacklisting me...it's been just as reliable as my Kawasaki, Subaru, and Toyota have....for 1/2 the cost.

Rant over, back to RC crawlers/trail rigs.

Finally got an update after 2+ weeks of nothing, it's going through customs in CA. Should be here by next Monday, or the 4th at the latest.

Keep your eyes peeled :jk:

Oh that might be the band mine is....but I bought it in West Germany in 1989/90 and was compatible with RC aircraft also as all the RC car ones were out of stock. If cellphones / digital cameras would have been smaller then. The controller would reach out there. The base I was on was small but setup with a square road around my units motor pool then around, almost a mile of cobblestone road. I could lose sight of it so I started timing how long it took down the road to a turns. On several occasions I was having to walk around to find where the battery quit or ran into something.

Well the 1:10 came in a few days ago, I’ve been busy testing and doing preventative mods, as well as learning any quirks it may have (only a couple, but what stock RC doesn’t) and having a bit of fun with it!

It’s a damn near perfect TRX-4 clone, albeit some minor changes to avoid yet another lawsuit from the main company.

Yes, it does have the angry grill, but I just found out it’s only a cover and will be finding out how to remove it. Also the black fenders and top are actually painted on OVER the body color, so as it rubs and wears off, the body color shows through. Idk about you but I prefer the fenders and top to be paint matched, so hopefully I won’t need to paint the body to get it that way! WOOT!!!

The lights ALL function, the light bar has its own channel to use it separate from the mains lights. And I haven’t found a mainstream Wrangler/Gladiator body that is based on the JL/JT for functioning DRL/turn signal location, as all others use the JK grill for that…other than Killerbody’s JT kit. Who doesn’t enjoy a realistic ini-me to scale?
- Speaking of the Killerbody kit, the doors even come off! I’ve been debating if I’m going to extend the wheelbase for it on this unit, or get a 2nd unit for that and make it a true Mini-me :3

The first night I had it, I tested everything to make sure it all worked (it did), then swapped the steering servo to a 55kg HV Coreless by 9imod, and opened the portals to lube them with marine grease as they were bone dry

- FYI you’ll need to reverse the steering if your transmitter allow of this, and possibly other brands, steering servo (the TX I got with my order of does allow this). For the record I ordered the HB R1013-2 (the 4th number is the color, the 5th number determines the feature package).

Decided to do the same with the lockers (yup, working front/rear lockers, and have their own dedicated channels on the transmitter, unlike the main brand):

If you look, you’ll notice they use a realistic dog gear design, unlike the main brand which uses a slightly less realistic dog gear design (google their part). You'll also notice the lack of good lube from the factory.

The next night I pulled the 2 speed transmission out and filled it with marine grease as well, it was also dry like the desert:

The only plastic parts in the entire driveline are:
- driven gear on transmission input shaft
- shift fork
- shifter dog gear
- and the drive shafts
Everything else is metal.

As far as other bits, the links are metal (plastic ends and non-adjustable), and the servos are all pretty cheap (you will either want to fill the electronic sides with dielectric grease (or they WILL freak out when running in water, not even full submarine mode either) or swap in better waterproof submicro servos.
- You’ll also want to upgrade your radio system sooner than later to one which allows custom endpoints or you may find your servos won’t fully engage (rare but has happened to me, and is a known issue even for the main brands too).

Upgrades/mods I've already done:
- 55kg steering servo
- Marine greased all gears (minus drive/driven gear on motor)
- Conformal coating on RX
- Unplugged the winch controller (mine doesn't have enough power to lift itself)
- Better 2S LiPos (I use Ovonic 2200Mah)
- Jconcepts 1.9" x 4.72" Landmine tires
- Plastic Beadlock wheels
- 8mm Al hex spacers (still debating on these)
- Removed spare tire (not shown in pic below)
- Moved the antenna to come out at lightbar (only when running in water, as previewed below)

Upgrades I've ordered and waiting on:
- Hobbywing Axe R3 system (2100kv motor combo) $145 on sale over the holiday weekend (vs $250 normally) from HW directly.
- 3S LiPos (Ovonic 2200Mah w/ deans, 5000Mah w/ XT60) $85 combined from Amazon
- Deans-XT60 adapters (both directions) $7 from Amazon
- iMax clone 1S-6S LiPo charger (iMax has been discontinued) $40 from Amazon
- Dumborc DDF-350 TX (allows endpoints to be set, has LCD, and all 10 channels) $60ish from Aliexpress
- Dumborc P10F RX (replace the "P8DC", really a X8DCG reprogrammed for light controls) $12 from Aliexpress
- Dumborc PPM light controller $10 from Aliexpress
- Magnetic breakaway PWM cable $4 from Aliexpress
- LEM's TRX4 dog carrier (CNC'd 7075 Al w/ 4 dogs vs plastic 2 dogs stock) $28 from their eBay store

I dunno, man….., it has that angry grille. Might wanna just go ahead and burn it. Get that thing wet after midnight and BAM!!! You’re putting self aware RC Jeeps with angry grilles in the microwave at 1am to survive.

Took off the angry grill, wasn’t a fan to begin with. And this pic has the new tires all around, no spare mounted, and I made the suspension softer (it’s adjustable).

This was just before heading to test out the new Jconcepts Landmines after it rained and the rocks were wet and extra slippery. It was too dark to get video but that will happen again soon. I’ll have to upload my recent trip to a waterfall with it, before I changed the tires. For now this will have to suffice:

And yes, I drove it through a creek, along hiking trails, and up that to that portion of the waterfall, and a bit further up/to the left before the stock tires couldn’t grip anymore. Not bad for a clone RTR and cloned ESC (Hobbywing 1060 clone) with a 12T brushed no name motor on 2S.
