Regarding the Genright Ultra Clearance bumper; would it be possible to modify the bumper rather than cutting off the frame horns? I like my factory Mojave skid plate and would like to keep it. I saw a photo and I'm pretty sure its the ultra clearance bumper and they're using the oem skid but I'm not exactly sure how they accomplished this. Thanks.

That has a nice clean look to it. Too many of the aftermarket front bumpers stick out so far, that they look like some kid’s jaw with a major underbite.

I agree! I'd like to keep it light, tucked in and clean.

Genrigt doesn't say the skid won't work, just that there is metal trimming need , which I also assume is the frame horns, perhaps forwarding that picture to Genright and get their response would be quick. Their statement that Rubicons have to go to a rockjock front sway bar, probably means the skid plate is an issue though. I would think it is something that can be fabbed to make brackets or even attach to bumper steel brace perhaps......jack

My experience with my JKU and a GenRight front was that I cut the frame horns shape...If I remember correctly, instead of squarish shape from the factory, trimmed to like a trapezoid or something. For sure didn't need to shorten the horns.

BTW...I LOVED my GenRight products on my JKU...Just don't want to drop the coin for the JT.

The Mojave skid mounts to the frame horns and according to Genright instructions, frame horns get cut off. I'm wondering if maybe there's enough room to maybe notch the bottom of the bumper to accommodate the frame horns so I can still use my skid. I'm not interested in gaining more ground clearance.

Update:

I ordered the Genright ultra clearance bumper. It does require cutting off the frame “horns” “tusks” “skid mount” or whatever you want to call it. Instead of cutting on my brand new jeep frame, I notched out the bumper and it worked perfectly! Unfortunately, I didn’t care much for the look and went with a different bumper all together and sold the modified Genright bumper to a local jeeper. First picture is the Genright, second is the Hefty Fabworks bumper.

Did you happen to take a pic of how much you notched the Genright? was it just a couple of inches?

Maybe an inch, not much at all.
