I found a tracking device installed under my dash. I was looking for something else and noticed an odd bundle of wires zip-tied to the OBD port wires.

I followed the red & white wires coming out of this bundle and it led up to a device Velcro attached to an OEM component.

I googled it and found it is a Spireon EDGE-M / LoJack tracking device.

i bought my Gladiator used and it is paid off, so I am guessing this was either installed by the dealer for their own tracking purposes or the original owner had the LoJack service. The unknown port in the first pic, I think is the OBD-II pass through connector. I haven't uninstalled the device yet. Wanted to post here first to see what others think.

I've attached PDFs of manual from both Spireon and LoJack. Here is a clip from the LoJack manual which appears to show exactly what I found on my JT:

Optional OBDii Pass-through Cable Installation Instructions:
  1. Unclip or unscrew the vehicle’s stock OBDii plug from its mounting location.
  2. Plug the OBDii pass-through cable into the stock OBDii port and clip or screw the opposite end into the
stock plug’s original mounting location using the supplied bracket where necessary.
  3. To install the Edge, mount the device as instructed in Step 3 of the standard installation before plugging the quick disconnect on the device harness into the one on the passthrough cable.

Call the company and ask them to know how much time is left on the service plan, you might be able to get another year or two of free service and the ability to track your vehicle if stolen. The dealer where I live in SoCal installs LoJacks on all their Jeeps.

I contacted LoJack support, asking if it is possible to activate/subscribe to the LoJack device found. Here is their response:

"...we do not allow device transfer from one owner to the other nor from one vehicle to another. For those reasons, you would not be able to activate the device in your new vehicle."

So, I'm going to just remove it.
