So, I recently discovered this sub box and subsequently ordered it. I installed it last week and I am very impressed with the build quality and sound output.

I have been trying to find a box for a single sub that fits under the rear seat without being oversized. I was planning to try and build one before I ran across this sub box from Fox Acoustics. The quality, fit and finish is top notch. I am using an old MTX Jack Hammer 10” and it sounds amazing n the box. The amount of airspace, provided by this box design, is almost an exact match to this sub. I could not be happier. Fox Acoustics had this thing to my door in about three days.

This is paired up with 4 JBL GTO 629 6.5” speakers in all the original 4” locations. I still have to install the kick panel speakers. I bought the replacement pods for the kick panels and the 6.5 adapter kit for the sound bar. I also replaced the 3.5” dash speakers with JBL Club 322F.
The amp is a Polk Audio PA D5000.5 5-channel class D.

There is no comparison to stock here. I did not have the Alpine system, but I have had it in three previous Ram trucks. Once I get the kick panel 6.5s in it will be perfect for my tastes.

I went with the JBL based on previous experience in low powered stock locations on other vehicles. A lot of aftermarket speakers never sound quite right without a lot of power. JBL is better tuned for reasonable power setups in my experience. I don’t want a huge amp install as it takes up too much space. The PA D5000.5 delivers 70x4 at 4-Ohms and 100x4 at 2-Ohms. The sub section is 200x1 at 4/400x1 at 2 and 500x1 at 1-Ohm. I am running at 4-Ohms currently. If I upgrade the sub I will use a DVC 2-Ohm to get the max 500 watt output.

Picked one up as well during Black Friday. Haven't had a chance to get to it yet, but the quality appears to be fantastic. I have the Alpine upgraded system, but wanted a bit more bass.

Looks great! I just picked one up myself but haven't gotten around to install yet. Do you have any pictures of where you mounted your amp?

Well, since it is so cold out, this is my temporary solution, I will clean it up when the weather is better.

Looks good!! Thanks for sharing!
Good luck, I’m sure you’ll love it. The FAB is absolutely a great buy and I’ve been extremely pleased with the sound! I chose to mount my amp on the end of the box itself; haven’t been disappointed in how it looks or performs.

I am debating between buying this box or a kicker HS10.

I already have an old Boston acoustics 400m Amp and 2 different JL 10” subs that are currently in small truck boxes that won’t fit under or behind the seats. I’m just not sure if I want to loose the storage space.

I would assume that this will have a much better sound.

I tried using a powered compact sub. It sounded good but no better than an OEM sub. Just wasn’t enough for me. I also wanted to power the full range with an amp due to how low the OEM system volume is at full volume. In order to amplify the full range, it takes sufficient bass to fill in properly. This is the main reason I chose to go the full box route now instead of later.

Well got the ancient JL 10w1 plugged in with the tiny sealed enclosure and functioning, First impression is it’s not quite enough so ill probably order the Fox Box.

I have some question as to what condition this sub is in due to the age and it came with an amp and the gain was maxed, and the second sub was blown… (they were free thankfully)

Anyone able to measure the box to see if a Kicker 10” L7 will fit? Specs indicate the airspace and depth are a match I’m just unsure of the surface mounting area.

SRQ Customs make a box with the 10” L7 for $400

5 stars for the Fox Box! Ordered on Wednesday and Fedex delivered it yesterday. It took no time to install and the level of detail is impressive. THIS BOX POUNDS. Both deep rap bass and tight, punchy speed metal sound great! I was using a SoundBox Dual 10” Gladiator specific box and the Fox Box Rocks C*ck compared to the SoundBox. Most importantly the mounting depth of the Fox Box is the deepest of any Gladiator specific enclosure that I’ve come across. I believe it’s 5.5” and you can add a spacer is additional depth is required. The SoundBox only offers 4” of depth. 5.5” allows for a full size sub instead of a shallow mount. I’ve seen some guys throw a Memphis Mojo Pro in there. That’s intense! In the Fox Box I currently have a DS18 shallow mount dual 2 rated at 600W RMS being pushed by a Kicker Key 500.1 at 1 ohm and it’s loud! It takes your breath away during certain low’s. My cheap db meter limit is 130db. This temporary set-up easily hits OL (over limit) on the meter.

Once the Alpine type S 10” Dual 4 (600w RMS) and Alpine A60 monoblock amp (600w @ 2 ohm) arrive later this week, I’ll update this post with pics of the set-up.

If you’re looking for an enclosure for your JT, BUY THE FOX BOX. Just make sure you match it with a sub that’s within spec for a 1.3 cubic foot ported/vented box and you’ll be very happy!

It really is a great box.

Btw, I replaced the Jackhammer as it was starting to bottom out like a sub does right before it blows. I put a Rockville K6, which is a 2-ohm DVC. I have never heard an $85 sub sound this good. I wasn’t expecting much for $85, but it was cheap enough to take the risk. I researched a bunch of budget subs and this is the one that came out on top.

I picked up this Alpine Type S for $125 Open Box from Crutchfield. It meets all the specs I’m looking for:

Recommended 1.3 cu ft ported box, Fox Box is exactly 1.3
5” mounting depth, 5.5” clearance in the Fox
15mm Xmax - That’s huge excursion for a 10” with 5” mounting depth
2.6” Voice Coils
600w RMS
Double Stacked magnet
Alpine offers a D4 and D2 if you want to run 1 ohm.
These new type S’s are allegedly running the old type R motor. I’m running 1 ohm now and I’m excited to compare and contrast running 1 vs 2 ohm. 2 ohm should be more accurate and run cooler but you sacrifice power. However I picked up the Alpine A60 for $150. 600 watt RMS @ 2 ohm for $150.

I am going to run this K6 until it blows or until I decide it isn’t enough any longer. It is running at 1-ohm so I am getting the most output from my 5-channel amp as well.

I will spend more on the next sub, if it comes to it.
