Well here's a new one.
Less than 5,000 miles on my JT.
Last couple of days I've noticed slight knocking from the front end that was related to vehicle speed. It was slowly getting worse and I could feel it in the steering wheel.
I jacked up the front end and spun the wheels. Long story short, I had lost a retaining clip on the right front axle u-joint and the bearing cup was working loose. The knocking was the end of the axle flopping around.
Luckily I caught it before the bearing cup was gone and none of the bearings were out of place. I was able to tap the cup back into place. The local drive line place gave me a replacement clip. (Thank You Driveline & Gear Service of Fallon) While I was there I bought a spare u-joint because, reasons. For those wondering it's a Spicer 5-7166X.
Obviously a warranty item but I'm leaving Friday morning on a 1,500 mile road trip to pick up a newly purchased pop-up camp trailer. I had to get it fixed asap and didn't have time to screw around with it.
Anyway, just wanted folks to be aware and wondering if anyone else has seen this yet.
