Hey Folks…, a stock lift Mojave with 35’s. I have a question. So I’m new to Jeeps and have been chasing some issues with the front end for a few months, since my Mojave hit 2K…, I only have 5500 on it now (worked from home). Finally circled back (life gets in the way) to this because the issues are getting worse (by the way, back when i first had the issue, dealer said they checked all suspension and everything was tight…)I’m gonna try to attach a short video and pic, hope it works. This it’s what’s “clunking” (passenger side.., driver side is tight as you will see) and its real bad when I hit speed bumps/humps with a sharp “edge” to them, actually just about every bump in the road small to large. Additionally, the whole front wonders and i get this kinda bouncy thing that feels like the suspension isn’t working. Is this the drag link? Is it warranty? if you have upped to 35’s will dealer cover it or do i need to put stock wheels back on? SHould I warranty or is there a better fix (that isn’t super expensive), I’m outa work and looking so I’m on a tight budget right now but i dont need this to cause an issue when I do drive somewhere. Ive been all over the place from thinking it was tires, to bad shocks and here I am with this.

Thanks for any help

I'd warranty it. That's what it's for. Especially if you're tight on money. Seems like a no brainer. Keeps a paper trail that you might need one day.

Yep… take it in and do that infront of the service guy… if they say that it’s normal say cool and walk straight to another wrangler/gladiator on the lot and do the same thing infront of them.

That is normal for the drag link. They all do that.

In regards to the video… Mine does that as well, as did my 21’ loaner. Both Mojaves.

I don’t experience the issues you list though and I’m on stock suspension and 37’s

Thanks for the replies and the spelling/grammar lesson (i’ll let autocorrect know). Ha. See what happens, taking it today. I didn’t find that issue, a local mechanic has a Jeep said it wasn’t right. I also checked a 2018 Wrangler Rubicon was there and it didn’t have the same thing going on. Guess ill see what the dealer says. I did replace the stabilizer a while back.., helped but it def still does “wander”. Something to get used to.

That small rotation in the tie rod is completely normal so long as it's on the up/down motion... not tire to tire.

Interest. Getting diff replies on this. Appreciate the reply. I’ll see what the dealer comes up with.

Even my aftermarket RPM tie rod has a little play like that. The only reason you think it's responsible for the noise is because you went looking around and found that and assumed it was the issue but it's not.

Now some people have a massive amount of motion because something's worn out but that amount that you are showing is normal.

When you say you have a stock lift what do you mean The Mopar lift or just the Mojave comes taller?

Usually whenever I hear something start to clunk around a bit i check torque on all eight control arms and the track bar and usually find something that was tight but not tight enough.

I’ve played with tire pressure, doesn’t do anything to alleviate the issues. Dropped it off a short bit ago. Dealer says that needs to be replaced so I’ll let them play with it and see what happens. Hopefully they get it back to what it felt like when I got it. Thanks again for thoughts and ideas.

@ScottMc68……this is fantastic advice.

You should get used to all the morons that lay everything off to “it’s a Jeep thing” or “it’s a solid front axle thing”….those are complete, utter bullshit, ignorant cop-outs. There are plenty of Jeeps out there that have solid, functional suspensions and non-wandering steering.

Just keep in mind that you may be working with a shitbox dealership…so you best beware. You can always go to another one if you want…your choice of service provider never has to be the same joint you bought it from.
