Just an FYI, I just noticed that JKS now has their 3-3.5" system available. I have their 3.5" system on my JKUR and really like the ride it gives and Offroad performance so I am considering it for my JT. I will probably run Teraflex Falcon shocks though, I've heard nothing but good things about them. I only plan to run 35's though so I'm not sure how it would look with that much lift.

That looks great, how does it ride now? Is it a firmer ride than stock was? I see there is a Heavy Duty spring option, which did you go with?

That looks great, how does it ride now? Is it a firmer ride than stock was? I see there is a Heavy Duty spring option, which did you go with?
The ride is better than stock and it feels a lot more responsive to steering inputs. The steering also feels tighter. I went with the standard dual rate spring that comes with the lift. This is the first time I've had a lift with dual rate springs and I really like it so far.

When I had my shop I did not sell or install kits, but rather I used specific parts from various companies that made superior products, LIKE JKS Mfg. I got my control arms and track bar components from JKS. My springs came from AEV. JKS was a component mfg back then and did not sell kits, I am sure had they done so I would have bought them. I liked their components and I manufactured my own Track Bars from their components which fixed the Death Wobble problem.

I would add these to my build...IF you expect to spend some quality time beyond the curb and like to run 3.x and above trails these would be a wise investment. My concern is the Fox Steering Stabilizer with the external reservoir. When I do a build my goal is and 'secret' is to parallel as much as possible all my steering components, track bar etc with the axle and I like to raise them as high as I can to get them out of harm's way. Takes a lot of work and some special components to do that but it will make a major difference in handling and of road performance.

I have not seen the JL/JT Rubicon axle sets, but I would hope that Jeep has designed the new and improved D 44 to allow a Hi Steer setup. See the last pic and NOTE the Trackbar, Tie Road, Steering stabilizer, steering link and axle are all on the same plane and set high. The axle ends have to be made for this and the parallelism makes for great handling on and off-road and is tucked up and out of the way. I also used a 6061 Alum Tie Rod but if I had it to do over again I would have gone with 7075 T-6 Aerospace grade. My 6061 performed well but I was able to finally bend it slightly.

NOTE: The Teraflex is a proprietary shock that cannot (at this time) be serviced by anyone else besides Teraflex. Something to consider when you are a 1000 miles from nowhere and a shock blows out.

That said if you don't expect to be a 1000 miles from nowhere and you can just pull over and call a buddy or limp home and put the shock in the afternoons' mail to Teraflex then its not an issue.
Is there any other shock at this price point that is not either dumpster bound at that point or serviced by the manufacturer only? They can be had for $600 for a set of 4, same as Fox.. at $150 ea I’m buying new anyhow no matter the brand vs waiting on rebuilding at who knows how much $$.

I do go to the middle of nowhere quite frequently but a shock will never keep me from getting back either. I might have to adjust my drive to accomodate the lack of one but thats about all a bad shock will cause for me.

I agree about piecing together a lift but unfortunately many companies will not sell their springs separately from a kit. The JKS coils in my JKUR ride much nicer than the AEV’s in my wifes so if I want their coils again, I’m having to buy the kit. No big deal as all I’d be buying is the basic kit and then adding to it via other brands such as teraflex, metalcloak

As for the SS, I run the teraflex adjustable on all 3 of my jeeps with very good luck and performance out of them at a very decent price point. I havent looked into the high steer option yet either but def will be. My wifes JKUR has an AEV 3.5” lift installed by the previous owner but for some reason they left off the included high steer kit. It drove like crap compared to my JKUR with the JKS 3.5” lift high steer kit to which I promptly added to hers.

Great, thanks. That is pretty much inline with how I felt about their lift on my JKUR and still do 3 yrs later. Did it firm up the ride or is it still pretty plush?

I wish they offered it without shocks altogether but oh well..

The ride is great. I wouldn't say it's firmer. I just feels like it is stuck to the road better. The steering is tighter too.

The upgrade cost on the FOX shocks for the JKS kit comes out at $105 per shock and they can be serviced by most shops.

I was not telling anyone to not buy a kit, in fact, I recommend several kits, JKS, FCA, Metalcloak depending upon your needs and expectations. In my shop we did not install kits unless you saw me and had bought a kit online and in most cases, I would install it at no charge if you stopped by on a Sun. WHY? ALL Kits are a solution that has been chosen by someone else for you and that someone else did not have a discussion with you to address your expectations. When I built a clients Jeep we sat down and talked about what do you want to do, go to Moab and run what trails? Anything less than a <3 trail I would recommend a kit, usually Teraflex and a shop that would install it at a good price. I only built Jeeps to run 3>++ . trails and at that level kits have drawbacks. It's a component build...That said when you do components then you MUST dial in that jeep, there is a lot of post-install work to be done that most shops will never do due to the time requirement and testing

My recommendation is that all start out with a decent kit at the entry-level kit. To be honest a Rubicon with a 2 in lift will do any trail in the US provided you have the right spotter. I don't recommend you play at the 3.5+ trails without a good winch and a strap.

The JT will give you 35" tires with no kit at all...WOW! Kits today are far superior to the kits 20 years ago. 2 key reasons: 1) better understanding of what it takes. The market was driven by fads and magazine writers that had no idea of what off-roading was. 10-inch lits, and then airbag suspension (no springs at all) about $8k installed! 2) Jeep has better in OEM form.

The Rubicon is an incredible bang for your buck. Get a good kit <$2500, throw on some BFG KM's 35's and you got a 98% solution and bragging rights to go with it.

I’m having JKS 3-3.5 installed on my JTR should be done tomorrow with Fox 2.0 shocks, yeti steer smarts traction bar and 5.13 gears. I’m running 37” tires with 20” wheels.
