Here’s some pictures from the first day at Smoky Mountains. After a day of driving I lucked out and got the best camp site at Elkmount. Right next to the river and a 1930’s stone bridge. Loved listening to the river.

Next I spent some time at Ole Smoky Distillery in Gatlinburg talking to a friend of Popcorn Sutton.

I headed out to Old Buzzards Roost and eventually Cosby campground.

Don’t confuse Old Buzzards Roost with Buzzards Roost. The Old Road starts off nice with a beautiful water crossing. It sucks you in until you can’t turn around. Next you’re locking in both differentials and disconnecting the sway bars. The climb to the top of the mountain was nervous without a spotter.

At the top of Old Buzzards Roost road, you have a short ride on Buzzards Roost gravel road to the top of the mountain and the namesake. It's one of the nicest, and scariest views in the Smoky's. You can take the two way gravel road for a scenic drive back down to I40. I spent a quiet night at Cosby Campground with very few people there.

The next day, I had plans to go to the top of Max Patch via Brown Gap Road. I soon found out that Brown Gap had a bridge out, so I took a 10 mile detour on Chestnut Ridge Road. It had a couple nice creek crossings, and multiple National Forest Dispersed camping sites. It's in Martha Sundquist State Forest and Pisgah National Forest. Very nice but tight dirt/rock road. Nothing too difficult, but I added a couple pin stripes to the side of the camper.

Took a nice hike to the top of Max Patch, before I headed down Creek Side Scenic Drive (2 way gravel road), which also had some nice dispersed camping sites next to a beautiful Creek.

Then down the Cataloochee Turnpike to Maggie Valley, the Eastern Cherokee Reservation, and the town of Cherokee.

Saw a small herd of elk near Cherokee.

One last day of hiking Chimney Tops and Clingmans Dome, then time to get a well earned shower in Gatlingberg.

The little 6 banger is a tractor in 4Low. I had to drop it into 4L to pull this 5,000 lb load up the hill.

9 inches of rain turned my food plot into a fishing hole. Pictured is my food plot last weekend before and after the rain.

My 16 ft. Tree stand is looking pretty short.

My truck slid down a 100 ft muddy hill covered with leaves. I’m surprised it climbed out with both differentials locked.

Someone needs to try a couple of these in the back of a Gladiator. You could use them as camper seats, storage, and they slide out. Pretty cool to put this on one side, and a fridge/sink on the other.
