How do y’all deal with all the stuff you’d normally have in the bed on a trip? Just chuck it all in the cab?

My buddy has a Kodiak. It still works with his BackFlip flipped up by the cab (Superduty). I assume the mid size Kodiak would work the same on a Gladiator. For the record, I have a rooftop tent mounted on a DIY bed rack that I use. Love it!

@ShadowsPapa, Not to hijack this thread, but I'd like to know more about your tailgate ladder. Type, price, install.

20210210_104646_HDR.jpg
My wife saw an ad on her phone and asked if it would help and if I was interested. Next thing I know it's arriving as a Christmas present. Back then, they weren't for sale on eBay or Amazon or through other places so they were expensive. 6 months later everyone is selling them under multiple brand names for 2/3 the price (or less) but oh, well.
I like it.
I had it on my 2020 and installed it as they suggested.
When I traded trucks I put it on my 2022 and installed it a bit differently so I could totally remove it AND the mounting plate in case I needed something to lay flat or if the mounting plate would be in the way of a tent or hauling rock or whatever.
So this time I put nutserts into the tailgate and different screws with lower profile heads.
I modified the mounting plate a bit to allow more clearance for my tonneau cover latches. Not necessary if you don't have the latches like I put on my truck.
You can pull 2 pins and take the ladder off the mounting plate if it's in the way.

I used nutserts in the tailgate, button-head socket screws for low profile.
I cut off and moved the mounting point (upper right in this picture) to the left (upward with tailgate closed) to give that leg of the ladder a bit more clearance from the tailgate cable. Not necessary, but my OCD got the better of me.
I pulled the plastic caps off the top of those mounts on the plate and and shortened them down a bit, then put the caps back on so they'd clear my tonneau cover latches. The latches were my addition so normally these trucks won't have such a thing so that won't be needed for most other people.

I notched this point for more cable clearance -

Pull the pins, ladder comes right off.

I 2nd the rightline tent. I got it off of REI once at half price. So it's was well worth for what I bought it for. Tight fit so be sure to do test fit so you know what you're doing before getting to the camp site. I never bother taking the tonneau cover off though, although that'd take a few minutes to do so not that big of a deal to do so if wanted to. I just prefer leaving it on so I can quick re-pack the bed and just roll it back. Only thing with the bottumless tent is be sure to have a matress, I did several days with this just sleeping on the ridges. Had dog with me that likes to chew on things, and only one I had at the time was a backpacking light weight matress I didn't want destroyed so didn't take it with me... told myself it'd be fine.

I've been thinking about this ladder, it pivots so you could climb into tent easier.

I like the ladder idea.
I don't have an issue getting in, but my dog uses a ramp & my wife uses the cooler as a ladder.

I like my Napier sportZ, a little time consuming solo install on a lifted Gladiator but doable. Real happy with the quality and fitment. Picked it up brand new on Ebay for half the price.

If you do the whole rack and RTT thing the Inspired overland tent is very light. I'm 5'7" and my toes touch the angled point at the end though is my biggest complaint. I leave my bedding in there, it's a PVC zipped side which is nice and light.

Was looking at that rtt for awhile. Love how light it is. They make a larger version as well. Ended up with an aluminum one for a little more branch resistance. Plus I was able to pick it up locally.

Hi everyone. My 4 year old son and I are going to start camping a little, and I’d like to utilize a truck bed tent. I see a few out there, but would like the communities input on what they use. I have a MOPAR rolling tonneau that I don’t see getting in the way, but would love all input.

Thanks in advance.
REI sells an excellent truck bed tent that is durable, weatherproof, and comfortable. fits right in the bed. Suggest you check it out.
