If you actually want a 3.5’ bed, just get a JL. I can’t imagine a set of circumstances where I would find a 3.5’ bed useful - I’d be just as well off without one at that point. Seriously - 3.5’? Has anyone ever successfully sold a truck you can fit an infant bath into?

I can’t see why anybody would want a 3.5 foot bed. I think your forgetting that most of the competition has a 5 foot bed and that the length works well for what the jeep is. I see a lot of people using these things for overlands and as an active lifestyle vehicle.

It’s not going to be 75k, and tbh lots of jeep owners take their brand new rigs off-road, this won’t be an exception. I know I will be, just like I did with my JK after I bought it.

I'm extremely disappointed with the enormous length of the Gladiator. Come on now, guys, how many of us Jeep fanatics are actually going to carry motorcycles in the bed, or 4x8 sheets of plywood, with the gate half-way down? Sure, it might look good in a Jeep marketing photo op for your fantasy dreams, but in the harsh realities of the real world (that we all live in), maybe 1 in 1,000 Jeep owners, if even that, are actually going to do this. I sure hope FCA comes to their senses, and offers a short 3.5 to 4-foot short bed, so the car stays at a reasonable length for driving to work and parking and navigating around the malls. Truth be told, admit it, the lion's share majority of us use our Jeeps primarily as daily commuters and weekend mall crawlers. Very few Jeep buyers are going to spend the realistic $75k+ for a fully loaded and tricked out to the max 2021 Gladiator Rubi diesel (including all costs, like sales tax, EFW, licensing, delivery, et al), and then take your beautiful new car out into the boondocks so it gets badly damaged, all scratched-up, and terribly dented, maybe even rolled over onto its roof and totaled-out, whilst navigating gigantic boulders. Let’s get real here, peeps.

If you want to be cool you will. Also if you want to carry more wood than just a couple sheets, the half way down setting will allow you to put other 2x4s and building materials on top of the plywood. I'm sure you could leave the tailgate up, but the plywood in the back of the bed will already be about 5.5" up and be sitting flush with the top on the tailgate.

So you only have about 12.5" of vertical space at the back of the box, and 0 at the top of the tailgate.

if you followed all that, terrific. I'll wait until I get a JT and see what's the best way to haul it, because I plan to do it like all the time as more forum members would agree. Only way to ride around is with some 5 ply hanging out the back, AM I RIGHT?

Yeah well I had no idea, had to hunt ten minutes just to support any response. Agree this is driving truck. Jeep part comes in at obstacles, and ride feel. I seriously hope you are jusplayin about that Ridgeline.
