I read a report that the initial ones were having serious mechanical issues like cracked blocks among other things plus, they couldn't meet the initial 1,500 mile between maintenance driving requirements, which has been expanded to 3,600 miles (IIRC correctly from the article). It's mostly built from off the shelf (factory floor) mechanical components so, if the squad can find an open Chevy dealership they can get it fixed

SO much cynicism in comments after the article and here.

Pretty effing sick of the cynics.
Just having fun about the Cheby. After owning about a dozen Chebys over the years. I can made fun of them.

Thought the Army was silly for these. We got polaris side by sides in my branch, and those pretty much fill the Jeep role. Plus low maintenance and they can get beat to pieces which is great.

Looks fun, and if it's based somewhat on a Colorado would be easier to get some parts for. Especially if that 2.8 is the XLD28 baby-Duramax. For this type of vehicle I wouldn't mind seeing what the electric is capable of, although you would probably need a new battery at that point. Cheaper than the GenRight LJ rolling chasis I'm pining for ?

My personal favorite… Smaller, probably faster and a bit more firepower!

That might take care of my ground squirrel issue, although the neighbors might not appreciate it ?

The goal with this was to carry 9 and be air droppable though, so I don't think the Polaris works in that case.

I'd think this can also tow and mount some serious shit given it's payload is probably that of a 3/4 ton.

The Internet is not for you my friend, but I understand:
I was in Pasadena for 3 weeks before the insanity. It is paradise.

I think it was based off the Colorado. Should be fun when they start hitting government auction sites!
Yup, based off the Colorado platform; should have the 2.7t ......so with 430ftlbs that will be a very capable platform.

In perspective.......our M1114s HMMVs had 190hp & 390ftlbs and that was a 10,000lb armored pig before payload

I can tow a humvee trailer with my Polaris. Ours were designed to go in Ospreys. I can also tuck 5 Marines in it officially. Unofficially I've carried 8. The thing wasn't happy, nor were the Marines in the bed, but it works in a pinch.
