Type of clunk? Metal sounding or something else? Im thinking it is your suspension. You can always do something like chalk on the edges of the camper sitting on the bed, and see if any of it shifts.Do any you guys with a Gfc have clunk sound in rear after installing camper? I’m trying to track down a clunk sound in the rear that seems to have started as soon as put the camper on. Not sure if it’s in my suspension or maybe a sound from maybe the camper shifting. Only hear it when going slow and going over a bump or speed bump something like that. Thanks
It’s more of thump type of sound. The camper isn’t shifting but I don’t know if it’s maybe moving up and down a tiny bit on the seal. The brackets are tight holding it to the bed. With it being a Gfc and extruded aluminum type of build not sure if the top maybe shifts. I can replicate the sound if I push on the camper back and forth but just can’t seem to find where it’s coming from.Type of clunk? Metal sounding or something else? Im thinking it is your suspension. Also might as well check the bolts holding the camper to the bed, they should be marked with red lines so you know if one is loose.
Could also be the camper having some play while it is closed, so you hear it "bouncing" open and closed maybe? Never heard of this but hey, might as well check with your hand while you're parked to see if you can open/close it a bit.
Hm. So if you can replicate it by pushing the camper, we can rule out the suspension more than likely and place that to the side. It’s more of thump type of sound. Yes it’s a V2 I’m pushing side to side from the cross bars with the sides open. What do you mean by bed panels?Hm. So if you can replicate it by pushing the camper, we can rule out the suspension more than likely and place that to the side.
Am I correct to assume this is a V2?
Where on the camper are you pushing exactly? moving it side to side or back to front? I am assuming side to side? If so watch what the locking mechanisms are doing, as well as double check that the bed panels are tight/have minimal room for movement. They might not be seated correctly. I saw on the GFC forum a week or two ago someones bedding platform was not the correct size so it was moving around a lot.
Quick google search for image since I am actively at work lol. the sleeping platform panels that you can move around , someone had an issue that one of the panels was loose. so that might be what is sliding and thumpingYes it’s a V2 I’m pushing side to side from the cross bars with the sides open. Well that'll do it. My first instinct was the suspension but I went horribly sideways lol.Tracked it down the track bar nut on the rear was tighten on the wrong side causing a popping sound. Tightened it down all is good now
yeah its possible. Would require a pulley system or a couple strong people at the corners to do it though. Is it possible to take the top completely off the Gladiator with the GFC installed?
This.yeah its possible. Would require a pulley system or a couple strong people at the corners to do it though.
I mean, you were basically right though. You would need a pully system or multiple people to get the GFC off so you were right lol.Wow, I totally mis read your question. You can get the freedom panels off no problem, but the remainder of the top would require removing the gfc as @Mjolnir said.
