Was at a red light. Turned green. Started going through the intersection, when out of the corner of my eye I caught a minivan running the light. I hit the accelerator to try to get out of the way. Jeep was not quick enough and he hit the back tire. Had I not hit the accelerator he probably would have hit the rear door.

I think when he hit the tire, the jeep jumped up on his hood - causing me to basically drive across it. His entire front end was destroyed. The cop asked me "are you certain there was not another vehicle in the accident?", then "this thing is a tank". He simply could not believe how the Gladiator came out of it.

Wheel was bent, so I put the spare on. Even with the spare on, there is still some run-out in it. Not sure if the axle is bent or what. The best body shop that I could find in my area is coming by today for a consultation.

All because the person wanted to save a minute, he could have killed you and your passengers if you had any. I am sorry this happened to you and glad you are ok. We are learning more and more about how well this truck is built compared to the other vehicles.

He had two kids in his car. My daughter who was supposed to go to Home Depot with me stood home to ride her bike.

I don't think the guy ran it on purpose. He was un-licensed, but the car was insured.

When I first told my daughter her first reaction was "Does this mean we cant take the Jeep snowboarding this weekend?"

man i hope it's not a frame issue.
Me too. Every body panel is still strait with the exception of where it was hit. All of the door gaps, hood gaps, body to bed gap, etc all look fine. You can see of the side of the tailgate the gap between the bed and the tailgate is off, but this is where it was hit.

The bumper is twister right at the mount point. There is an L bracket on the end of the frame horn that the bumper attaches to. The bracket is bent.

Man, glad the fam is okay. A vehicle can be replaced or fixed. On another note you should get a sticker of the type of car that hit you, put an X thru it and place it next to your other Jeep stickers.

Driving is a privilege, not a right, and intentionally running a red light, is grounds for having that privilege suspended in my book, especially when causing an accident. The fact he hit you after you got halfway through the intersection, tells me the light had been red when he approached the intersection, and had been red for at east one minute. Most lights are timed to turn red first, then turn green in the other direction, so for about 3-9 seconds or so, all the lights are red. Adding that he was unlicensed, he needs to go to jail, and not collect $100... Had some one been killed in this accident the driver at fault would be looking at a man slaughter charge and some serious jail time.
Cheers
