It still is!
Turn off the news and everything will be just fine. In traveling to almost 50 countries, some of whom were not friendly to the US the people I met there were all friendly and interested in meeting us and us them.

Its the politicians (from any country) that tend to screw things up.

Come on down!
Sorry, if they looked at my phone, they’d have me in El Salvador faster than Abrego Garcia - advice to the OP… Don’t bring your guns ha ha up here we got a problem with that

Having a fairly “clean” phone is just common sense crossing any border.

Just clean your cache and hopefully you don’t have any child porn or texts about making a bomb etc. and you’ll be fine.

i’ve never actually had my phone looked at. Just answer any questions truthfully and you’ll be fine.

I have brought guns into Canada legally. It’s just a question of filling out the form, paying the fee and being honest.

Yeah, well my phone’s pretty clean except when it comes to many texts about the state of things regarding our “friends down south”

Back to the travels. What kind of prep are you planning? Vehicle, storage, packing, etc. Do you have it mapped out with planned stops and sites? Oil change enroute? Are you going to hit trails along the way or is this a straight to Alaska and then fun trip?

Kind of curious why you'd go across the plains and the most boring part of Wyoming instead of over through the southwest and up through Utah. That schlep across Oklahoma, Kansas, eastern Colorado, and southern Wyoming is boring as hell.

And watch yourself on I-80 in Wyoming, they love to hand out the official Wyoming Velocity High Score Certificate of Achievement.

Isn't there a big loop in Alaska that takes a lot of the state? Has anyone driven that yet? Is it worth considering or is it just another highway?

Yes my gladiator is equipped with 31/2 lift, 37” tires, SmartCap,rtt, rear aux battery, rear drawer system and iceco frig. I do have solar capability on extended stops.
I’m not new to overlanding having gone on several week long trips but longest trip thus far has been Louisiana to California.. 2 weeks.
I just put new tires on yesterday and completely serviced vehicle.
I have my trip mapped in onX with numerous potential camp sites also pinned , but I will be very flexible along the way for side trails , extended stays (fishing and site seeing). I will be in Alaska for 4 weeks. I have several trails in BC that I want to run on my way back and get in the outback as much as possible possible going and coming.
I figure will need to get an oil change and tire rotation somewhere in Alaska!
Also I want to visit as many National Parks as possible (air and boat trips will be needed)
I also have a Starlink mini to stay in contact with family and friends when no cell service available.

No reason other than mileagetine on my return trip plus I’ve been to Arizona, Colorado, Utah and wanted to see something different.
Who knows where I will end up going on my return trip . I’m very flexible

And that stretch of Wyoming is stupid windy. I've been blown out of my lane in a sedan before, could get real fun in a lifted brick with a roof top tent.

And it's closed regularly due to wind, snow, drifts, poor visibility, and other types of murdery-weather.

We did a 15K mile trip from NC to Alaska including Prudhoe Bay and several areas in AK. Caught Salmon, Halibut and had a blast. We went in 2020 during Covid (don’t ask how we got across the border!) but we weren’t able to go to Tuk and a few other places. We are going to go back in a year or two.

We were gone 10 weeks. We originally planned for 12 weeks but like I said above Covid shut down a few places we wanted to go.

It will be an epic trip!

Besides trout fishing in Wasilla, the view in Alaska isn't that spectacular. British Columbia was by far the best view. Someone mentioned Tuk. We stayed there over night at a motel to grab a shower, meal and a good night's rest on a mattress. We departed feeling dirtier and more tired. Was not impressed at all.
